The good:

  • It successfully copies the oft-imitated-but-untouchable Grand Theft Auto formula
  • Fun, responsive driving controls are as good as on-foot shooting action
  • Impressive presentation, featuring amazing explosions and great audio
  • Mostly well-written, well-acted story will compel you to keep playing
  • Various little why-didn't-someone-think-of-that-sooner features

The bad:

  • In some ways, it will be familiar to a fault to anyone who's played much GTA
  • Some noticeable bugs and glitches
  • Not much variety to the mission design

The bottomline:

Saints Row may look like just another Grand Theft Auto rip-off, but the rare quality of its action and presentation make it stand tall on its own merits.

Bought it last night, played till 4:50 AM...Addictive

Pros: The interface is really easy to use and as a newbie I was quickly hooked. I liked GTA in many different versions but I think this is better. It just feels more playable.

excellent game with only a few small issues

Pros: replayability, after comparisons with gta sa i have found i can go back to this game a lot more than i could with gta.
looks brilliant!
controls well.
huge scope for creating a character, can be anything from a skinny black guy with a bald head and flash suit to a very fat asian with a pink mohawk, heaps of piercings and horrible dress sense.

Cons: no other vehicles, would have loved to have at least bikes but also boats and maybe planes ala gta sa.

ending bites! not going to reveal it but be prepared.
