Google 'voice search' is awesome
By Rafe Needleman on 18 November 2008
The new voice-activated Google Mobile app for the iPhone is finally here. Whatever the reason for the delay, it was worth the wait.

A note to CNET Australia editor. Please do a little research before releasing US syndicated content to the Australian site.
One minutoe im reading on Fairfax how bad the new Google app is for Non-US accents, and then a minute later I see on CNET Australia that it's awesome..
Go figure.. -

I installed it, tried 45 searches and it got ONE correct. I uninstalled it. Maybe it does not recognise non USA English

You dont happen to be an American hey Rafe?
The only time I could get voice search to work was when I spoke in an American accent, saying phrases like 'Aluminum Zebra' -

I dunno, its a little "albert daviiieesss" for me, I tried around 25 different questions and it only ever got one of them completely right. When it does work its great.
On the other hand the app Say Who blows me away with how accurate the voice recognition is.
