Plenty will be said about the new Bold 9900's upgraded hardware, its hefty allocation of RAM and the performance of its GPU, but let's take a moment to breathe in the beauty of this new handset. At BlackBerry World in Orlando, Florida, we go hands-on with the latest in the Bold family.

Some reports are suggesting that OS 7 will not be available for the current range of handsets. "RIM has confirmed that the newly launched BlackBerry OS 7 will not be coming to older phones.""(1) (they say due to hardware restrictions - sounds a little sus).

While other reports are suggesting that RIM have not commented on this issue, "RIM hasn%u2019t confirmed if BlackBerry OS 7 will be available as an update to older models"(2).

Speculations on crackberry.com are that OS6.1 will be pretty much the same, and that OS 7 will be only released on new handsets. (3)

I hope this helps a little, I guess it is a little too early to tell what the situation is for us Torch users!

A RIM spokesperson explicitly told us yesterday that OS 7 will not be coming to older devices unfortunately.
