You can get Lamborghini laptops and Porsche phones; now, if you're willing to stump up some serious cash, you can get BMW-designed speakers.
Presumably there's a Bimmer in the garage too ...
Automakers focus a lot of their energy on developing technology for both under the hood and inside the car. Sometimes, though, we can't help but think that they spend an inordinate amount of time on products that have nothing to do with the road.
The latest example is the Klipsch Palladium P-39F which was designed in conjunction with the BMW DesignworksUSA studio based in sunny California. These snazzy looking speakers are enclosed in cabinets made out of zebrawood and stand 5-feet (1.52m) tall atop a brushed-aluminium base. As with anything bearing the BMW touch these loudspeakers cost a pretty penny: US$15,000 a pair. Mind you, Ferrari has put its logo on a tower system that goes for US$20,000. Even at those price levels, they make more sense to us than a US$600 BMW coffee maker.
The P-39F goes on sale at high-end audio stores in the States in the northern summer.
