How Seven blew the internet Olympics
By David Braue on 12 August 2008
If there ever was an opportunity for a broadcaster to showcase the potential of internet video, this was it, and Seven has blown it. Perhaps its executives should have rung their mates at NBC in the US and gotten some pointers on online coverage.

It's totally pathetic. The simple fact that there's only one actual feed of content is so lame. First of all, there's more countries than just Australia participating in the olympics, and it would've been nice if Seven ran other country's events on their other channels (or, god forbid, live events while the "main" channel showed the normal repeat-of-a-repeat). Another problem is with the total lack of any scheduling. I had no idea what time the 1500m swimming was going to be shown last night, so you're basically forced to watch the whole evening just for the one race you were actually interested in.

At times, both SBS and Seven have had the same video feed. What the?

Worst Coverage Ever!!! commented on 18/08/2008 15:31
Last night it seems like seven was showing a lot of adds, so I decided to time how long it wook them to show another add. This is what happened.
Add break -> slow motion filler that I have seen 10 times before -> a single mens cycling sprint race -> slow motion filler for gymnastics -> add break.
They only showed one race in between adds and filler, and it lasted almost exactly 2 minutes!!!
A serious joke... This happened time and time again last night... Just terrible. -

So true, they blew it big time. I would rather online content than TV. I also bought a HD tuner for my computer to watch the games, thinking there would be multiple events and camera angles... apparently not.
