If you're on mobile, you're out of luck, but if you're a Yahoo user on the web, there's a way you can go back to the Yahoo inbox you know and love.

Yahoo's email redesign not only removed a lot of beloved features, but ceased functioning properly for many users, including deleting contacts, removing sent emails and failing to send emails in a timely fashion.

If you're a Yahoo user on the web, though, there's a way you can restore your inbox to the way it was before — whether it's because you hate the new look, miss the old features or simply want your email to, you know, work.

First, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of your screen and select "Mail Options".

On the next screen, look for "Advanced Options" on the bottom of the page. Here, you have the option to select either "Full featured", which is the new inbox, or "Basic". Select "Basic". This will restore the old inbox.

When you're done, make sure you remember to click the "Save" button on the top right of the page. This will save your changes and restore the old inbox.

And, if you have a change of heart, you can change it back really easily; on the front page of your inbox, you can click "Switch to the newest Yahoo Mail" to change it back over.

Enjoy your new (old) inbox.

I just signed the petition "Yahoo: Bring back the old version of Yahoo Mail!" on

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

Help! Help! Help! - and no help comes from Yahoo. Only more confusion. My Gear doesn't offer the Mail Options as you indicate. As usual, complaints are met with silence. If I get no help within the week, I am definitely moving to another e-mail account. I can't even do the simplest tasks on email anymore: it no longer permits me to underllne, use italics or the bold option. I've already complained, to no avail, about it's other confusing features. AND NOW I see another new version is coming. I can do without pretty pictures - I only want email to function. No response this time, no basic email - I'M OUT - after many years as a Yahoo user.!!!!

Let me add to what I have just posted. If you go to your email through a icon on the favorites bar, you must delete the old and make a new icon with the basic mail to use. Hope this helps!

The "GEAR" no longer gives you "mail options" as a choice, only "settings" and I've found no way to revert back to Classic Yahoo Mail . My Issue with the new mail is they took away the ability to "sort" the inbox alphabetically; a feature that I value very highly. It also has issues with "filing" email into folders before opening them - it won't let you use the "move" function until the mail is already opened. A lot of my mail I archive before I read them; can't now.

how can a company force upon their users such a huge change without giving the user a choice if they wanted to upgrade? I wonder who were the monkeys who approved this decision.

the new version is a complete joke and they have already lost and are going to continue to lose a whole lot of users.

Although Yahoo opens on my desktop, I cannot open individual emails nor can I open folders etc.

The "Taking too long? Load Basic Mail" suggestion on the bottom right of the message window can also not be activated. I will have no choice but to change to Gmail - after more than 10 years with Yahoo.

My Yahoo Mail is completely frozen. Although I can receive mail I cannot (on my desktop): open or write letters; open folders or indeed take up the following offer at bottom right of the letters page that says:

Taking too long? Load Basic Mail

If this continues, I have no choice but to change to Gmail

I tried this also but it keeps switching back to the new email design. I have really slow internet so I need to use the basic.
