Although not widely seen yet in Australia, QR (short for Quick Response) Codes are commonly used in Japan, and the technology is starting to catch on in other countries. Used for storing contact information and URLs, the funny-looking two-dimensional bar codes can be scanned with camera phones equipped with an appropriate reader.
