Expectation of the product
I somewhat had expected the HP printer to be lighter and more compacted in size. I have used HP in the past, but this one was quite different to what I had used. I was impressed with the touchscreen animated video to show you how to set up and get started with your printer. I was also happy with the paper-tray capacity.
One thing I did not find anywhere an indication of what the items supplied in the box were; there was no labelling as to what they were, which in my thoughts there should have been, like some pictures of those items in the "getting started manual" to describe what was in there. (I did, however, see this on the box, but again no indications as to what they were.)
Such as ink tanks, manuals, power cord, set-up CD-ROM, USB cable, etc.
Previous printer experience
I buy a lot of printers in my business. I use it to its full capacity, and each printer I buy I do different things with, such as one printer to print discs only, while the other printer I use for scanning, printing documents and faxing, and the other printer I use for just for printing photos.
This may seem complicated, but this was because the printer I used had one type of function only, and I used only that particular function, but the other printers I used did not have that particular function on there, so my only alternative was to have five to six different printers in my office. I also found with the printers that I was using for my business that the quality on one was better than the other, and also faster.
Unboxing of product and initial thoughts
Well packaged, and with a big box to carry, which I had not expected, my initial thought of the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One was that this was big not what I expected from my previous printers I had used. I was impressed with the style of the HP, and found it to be of good quality. I loved the capacity of the paper tray that it had, as this was one thing I liked about it with my other printers that I am using. I do not really have this large capacity. I also liked the touchscreen of the user guide that had showed me step-by-step instructions on setting up my printer with a animated video set-up that impressed me, as this made me setting up the printer quicker and easier, and this, to me, was better than using the manual guide.
I have set up my fax with the distinguish ring, and liked that you could set it up on your computer with a touch of a button by entering the number and sending the fax through, which was great, and that you could easily scan the document and send it through to add your logo to this was great.
I'm looking forward to setting up the Eprint and Printer apps next.
