    • Good: Great looking.
      Great Value (Oversea "Dubai")
Runs Microsoft Flight Sim X well but with detail low.
    • Bad: 6 cell Batt seems to get about just over an hour out of it (maybe it might improve after a few cycles).
      Only came with XP Home.

I Picked up a HP DV2197ea from oversea's. Cost me $1850 Aust Dollars.
    Same as Above but has:
Core 2 Duo 2ghz. 120 Gig HD. 2 Gig 667mhz Ram. all else the same.

    • Good: slick design
      light
      relatively quite
      touch sensutuve buttons
      fast power on time
      web cam
    • Bad: head phones at front make difficult for connecting speakers

(expect your machine to blue screen etc etc. this is because core duo processors were not deigned to work with xp/xp media. so upgrade when it comes out!)

    excellent notebook:

    core duo 1.73ghz
1gb ram (soon to be 2)
    120gb hdd
    nvidia geforce go 7200
    xp media centre edition
    office 2003

    • Good: -good value
      -webcam
      -sexy sleek design
    • Bad: If i have to say somethingy ti's the battery but that's still not really much of a problem

A damn fine piece of machinery. Buget was $1800 bu to hell with that, it's a good deal. I can probably shop around and get it for less anyway.

    • Good: Loads of features, no ports on the rear, plenty of 'oomph' factor for a decent price.

Dedicated GPU - definately a must have in an 'entertainment' pc.

Handy remote hides in the PC Card slot - so James Bond.
    • Bad: 3 hrs Battery life.

      Noisy Optical drive.

      1 year warranty.

DVD Recovery set made two coasters on attempting to burn backup DVD set, haven't tried yet with CD's but should do - not relishing the above comment which says that took 7 hours...

Got the following setup from JB for 1680, they threw in a laser mouse (cable) as well with no bickering.

    - core duo 1.6 ghz
    - 1gb RAM
    - 80gig HDD
    - 128mb nvidia go7200
    - inbuilt webcam, remote, bluetooth
    - Windows XP Pro

Had to reboot the CMOS setting for some reason Windows was running at half processor speed - could be a power management factory setting but once that was ticked over to 1.6 this thing flew.

Had to remove all the HP blah blah blah as we all expect with these things.

USB ports were a little tight, but have no fear and use a *little* force to wedge them open a bit. First time is the hardest after all.

PC Card slot had same 'tightness' about it but thats cool now, just push a little harder and you'll pop that sucker open too.

    • Good: So much computer for so little money
    • Bad: Not great battery life but not a big issue for me.

I bought one a copuple of weeks a go from Dick Smith for $1599. What a lot of computer for the money. I am delighted with it. Had a minor problem with the Norton Internet Security preventing a hotfix for my ACT 6 software but that is now resolved.
I bought a bluetooth mouse for it and now I'm set. Now to buy a PDA
