HP Photosmart 2575

The HP Photosmart 2575 All-in-One doesn't have the bells and whistles of a good-looking multifunction printer, but it has all the necessary features for use at home or in a small office.

I have had this printer for three years now and have not once had a problem with it! Apparently I may be one of the few. At my reccomendation a friend of mine bought the exact same one and has had problems with it. Oh well! Mine works wonderfully!

    • Good: Good print quality, easy use of Camera slots for photos.
    • Bad: Paper feed. Jams, who needs to babysit a printer?

This printer has been nothing but a headache since I bought it. The film feed problem is the worst.

PRINTING IS FINE WHEN IT WILL LOAD PAPER...AVOID AT ALL COSTS, YOU WILL WASTE MORE PAPER THAN YOU PRINT

HP has a (very poorly publicized) "cleaning" kit for the paper feed problem. I got it by requesting on their online chat; it's free, arrived fast, works so far.
I still have other problems to resolve (software problems, networking problems), and consider this printer a real lemon.

    • Good: Everything is fantastic except the paper feed.
    • Bad: Paper feed makes printer unusable.

I am glad to have found other people who hate this printer. I loved my last HP printer but this one hasn't picked up paper consistently since the second day I got it. I got the cleaning kit from HP and run it, and then it picks up paper for a day or two and then stops again. HORRIBLE design, fundamentally flawed. Unbelievable to me that they put out a printer that won't pick up their own brand of paper. And I went and bought a case of the paper. I am ready to throw the printer in the garbage and go buy a different brand.

    • Good: Ability to use as a network printer. Relatively low price. Decent scan quality. Decent print quality, if you can get the paper to feed.
    • Bad: Printer feed problems.
Plus, my Mac won't recognize that the scanner exists even though the scanner works great with my PC. Perhaps another call to tech support is required.

From the day I bought this printer, there were problems with the paper feed. For the first month or so, I had to gingerly push each piece of paper in or it would tell me that the paper tray is empty. Now, no amount of pushing will get it to take in the paper. At best, I can get it to detect a paper jam instead.
So I finally called HP tech support (1-800-474-6836) and they are going to send me some roller kit to fix the problem. Not sure exactly what it is, but I hope it works.

    • Good: Nice quality prints and scans.
    • Bad: Paper feed problem.

I left a comment here a while ago with a possible solution to the paper feed issue. (tilting the printer back). That worked for a couple of days...then the same old problem again.

Phoned HP, they ran me through all the fixes they knew then said "fax us the bill and this number xxxxx and we'll send a new printer".

    • Good: No pros
    • Bad: Paper feed

How can such basic technology, fail so miserably? The paper feed is a mjor problem and makes this printer painful to use.
