HP TouchSmart IQ505a
By Craig Simms on 20 June 2008
The second generation TouchSmart as just a panel PC is gorgeous. The AU$1,999 price is fantastic as well — but we can't help but feel that there's so much more potential in the touchscreen aspect being left, ahem, untapped.

- Bad: Can I hook up a new monitor when it's monitor goes bad? I don't think so.
What do I do with it when the monitor stops working? Throw it away?

- Good: Sexy, smart and intuitive.
- Bad: None yet.
Beautiful, easy to use and an absolute stunner wherever you place it. It makes the usual PC user experience a delight and a huge improvement on the boring interface we are normally subject too.

- Good: nice design
- Bad: Crippled by microsoft and vista's enormous processing requirments
These types of devices will remain 'toys' until the big boys like HP use a purpose built operating system. Think of the EEEPC, Ipod - they dont develop a piece of hardware around the OS, it is the other way around!!!

Anybody have problems installing Office 2007 (Enterprise version) on this computer? Keeps locking up at end of install and mobius loops. Removed previous demo versions of OFFICE. Any ideas?

- Good: What a home media center should be.
- Bad: A bit pricey.
Beautiful design that would sit proudly in a family room. The 508 model even includes a TV tuner (not sure if it is a digital TV tuner or not).
