i-mate K-JAM

The i-mate K-JAM offers a good package of business features at an acceptable price, although if you want top-notch performance, look elsewhere.

- Good: Wifi, Bluetooth, great interface, quick, great slide, active sync runs great, the whole phone is awsome
- Bad: Stylist falls out sometimes
The phone is great overall and runs very nicely it runs all my applications quickly and active sync runs fantstic,
I am so impressed with the phone that i will be buying the latest phone in a few month. the main problem with the phone is when you dont know what your doing it took me a month to figure out how to work it but know i know every setting there is and my phone runs like a dream. -

- Good: Battery life great compared to the OX2.
- Bad: Have had phone 18 months and it is ok but lately I have had to reboot once a week to stop the program from playing up.
I also had a problem with loosing the stylis so I bought Torx keys from Dick Smith (australia) $10.00. You can adjust the allen key inside to stop stylis from dropping out

- Good: Very well equipped. Great keyboard. BT and Wifi based internet works really well. Does a great job as a PDA and is a great phone. If you want a camera, buy a DSLR
- Bad: Difficult to install WiFi and USB ActiveSync does not work.
I had to struggle with setting it up right. The USB ActiveSyn does not worth a non XP firewall. The BT dongle I got was a pain to install. And I had to broadcast my SSID to make sure it got onto the WLAN network.
This phone is NOT meant for those who are not tech savvy or have the patience to systematically resolve problems.
But its AWESOME when its all configured. Great size, great keyboard and great screen.
One reason why the screen hangs could be the anti-virus installed in the phone. You might want to uninstall it. -

- Good: The calendar is the main thing I use and it generally suits my needs. Phone and SMS function pretty good too.
- Bad: Unresponsive or unpredictable screen. Friends laugh when they see me battling with it, they're never going to buy one.
As already mentioned by another user, it's good when it works. Otherwise it is extremely frustrating. A major issue is that the screen goes through periods of being completely unresponsive and repeated use of the alignment screen seems to make little difference. It's quite temperamental really...some days it works perfectly fine and other days it won't do anything you want. It does also just freeze up and not even switch off so that you can re-boot. Camera is very poor quality, don't even use it. In the last couple of days it's started switching on and off spontaneously. Slippery stylus problem can be fixed with a small piece of cellotape, not a very aesthetically pleasing fix, but it increases the width and makes it stay in place.

- Good: All required features
- Bad: stucks and reboots the moment a phone bell rings
Though on paper, the phone has all features...but it just is very unreliable. pls let me know the stucking and reboots may change if i insert a miniSD???

- Good: On paper it has all the features you would want
- Bad: In practice it may decide to give you access to all the features you require if you don't throw it across the room beforehand!
It is very rare that I am incited to post a comment on a public website but this has to be the most useless and frustrating device I have ever owned. It hangs, the touch screen is fickle and unresponsive and the list goes on. For your own sanity I would suggest looking elsewhere for a converged device.

- Good: Does just about everything I need, albeit not when I really need it.
- Bad: Charger from PC doesn't always work when the battery is moderately flat, which sort of defeats the purpose?
Had to get a new battery after just 6 months.
"Live" help gives new meaning to "life" that may see Elvis classified as alive.
Needs frequent reboots.
ActiveSync can't cope well with large media files eg those from podcasts.
If you need reliability in your device consider two baked bean cans and some wire.
Great when it works ... sadly that isn't too often.
