A master cake artisan has created an incredible cake depicting the Furnix enemy from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Seriously, just look at that thing. Cake artiste Rhiannon (you can see her work as cakecrumbs on DeviantArt) likes to bake in her spare time (in her non-spare time, she's studying for a masters in Zoology). The cake above was created for a Legend of Zelda art tribute project to showcase the enemies of the game series, and it features a Furnix, which fly around in Skyward Sword.
The cake only forms the base of the sculpture (butter cake, if anyone's interested). The bird itself is made from a wire frame padded with foil and coated, then sculpted, in fondant. The process took her a long week of cutting, carving and shaping — and that doesn't even include the trial-and-error process of getting the thing to hold together.
It's a masterpiece. One we wouldn't dare cut into. Visit Rhiannon's blog for more pictures and a full explanation of the process.
