Nic Healey can usually be found on a couch muttering about aspect ratios and 7.1 channel sound - which is helpful given that he's the home entertainment guy at CNET.

Either you're bleary-eyed and exhausted from an evening of following CES live blogs, or you're bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and ready to face the world: either way, follow the Intel live blog here.

Among other things, Intel could show off its plans for 'perceptual computing' during its CES press conference.

Intel's press conference is the first of two big events for the chipmaker at CES 2014, with CEO Brian Krzanich's keynote address being the other.

Intel has been fairly close-mouthed about what people can expect from it, but the hot money is on the company showing an expanded array of products for the increasingly mobile world, from wearables to 'perceptual computing' and, of course, tablets. Intel might even talk about laptops and desktop PCs — who knows?

What we do know is that CNET will be on the ground at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas and you can follow our live blog of the event below while you finish your coffee and toast.
