iRiver S10 (2GB)
By Edvarcl Heng, CNET Asia on 22 January 2007
The iriver S10 may have its shortfalls, but it's all at the expense of size. At least, from the standpoint of a mini MP3 player, it's probably the best that money can buy.

Bought this and it won't work with my Compaq laptop. Laptop recognises it but when you go to download songs from the iriver software, it says memory full. Took it back and it works on other computers so tried downloading songs directly via MS Explorer. Once again, device recognised but as soon as you start the transfer, the device packs it in. Have seen other people state same problem elsewhere on the net. Emailed iriver on three occassions and they just won't respond. Going to take it back.
- Good: Would be great if it worked as advertised... I have the required computer hardware and software, but it just won't work on my laptop.
- Bad: Doesn't work on all computers even though it says it should.
Terrible customer support.

A great little player... I just bought this and i love it. The display is really cool, lovely colors, good resolution even though it's small...
- Good: Everything, except...
- Bad: ...the earphones cable... is too small. I would love a cable long enough to reach the pocket.

This is a marvel. I've had Creative Zen players up to now and loved them but the size of the them was making them less useful. JB HiFi sold me this for $140 and I bought it with some trepidation. The sound is astounding and the machine is so intuitive. I don't listen to music for more than 8 hours per day and this will charge off any USB port. Paired with the new Sony in-ear buds, I was blown away @ 128k WMA. The sound was better than Creative (which is saying something) and I learned how to use the machine in about 5 seconds. The on-PC software is lame but it is a drag and drop file saver so no dramas there. Highly Recommended +++++
- Good: Everything
Size
Weight
Drag and DRop files - Bad: Wish it was 30gig (I can't think of any cons)
- Good: Everything

Just got one a few days ago, and I must say this is one of the best players I have gotten so far. The screen is brilliant, bright and attractive and can be worn as a pendant (however, it does get annoying when people start pulling it from your neck and going, 'What's this?) It's tiny, flash-based (so it won't skip when you're out for a jog) and the sound can be made brilliant (if you do not use the bundled earphones.) Invest into a pair of great non-stereo earbuds if you can (Sony MDREX90LP are what I got) but anything other than the bundled buds will work. They are amazingly uncomfy to wear, and look so clumsy when attached to the player and not around your neck. It also becomes hard when you want to share music with a friend. The battery life is annoying, but when you're a student in an environment where there is a computer around every corner, it doesn't really matter.
- Good: Tiny, simple yet sexy. Brilliant screen and great sound.
- Bad: Static prone earbuds, bad body material, annoying battery life.

Excellent little player. They should do a man and woman version. I'm a big dude and it looks a little dainty and silly. Still it works so well I put up with that. Maybe some barbwire around the edges would make it more manly. Seriously a pink or white for girls and chrome or black back for the dudes would make sense.
- Good: Just found the delete or add to quick playlist. Why do they seem to keep this great feature secret? Hold down play on a file and you can choose delete or add to playlist.
- Bad: Battery life is limited. I purchaseda little battery pack cheap that connects with the USB to charge. So, even if away from power source for a long time you can still top it up.

Previous Reviewer doesn't get it. Size is the key to this device - it's as small as a shuffle and has a screen, radio and photos - that's worth standing up and shouting about
- Good: Size, screen (beautiful), sound quality, functions
- Bad: battery life will not compete with larger devices

Just got one of these and love it. I jog and cycle and the small size is fantastic for sport. I travel/ fly a lot and the small size is a bonus here as well.
- Good: Small size. Easy menu clicks. Even on First use under a rain jacket while joggin I could navigate by feel for volume and to move around the music folders. Great sound and good volume as well.
- Bad: Battery life.

LMAO sorry but the iPod Nano is a LOT bigger than the iRiver S10... the iRiver S10 is about the size of a postage stamp and can literally be worn as a necklace on the lanyard strap.
- Good: Better than an iPod 2nd. Generation Shuffle! Colour screen, typically excellent sound quality thanks to iRiver
- Bad: Fairly expensive for its capacity
