The new iTunes, version 9, has an improved overall look that is a bit cleaner and more polished. It's also supposed to be easier to navigate, and it does seem simpler.

Similarly, the artist pages have been dolled up significantly, with artist images filling up the main screen.

Same goes for album pages, which feature a wallpaper design that gives it a more seamless look. They're much prettier than in version 8.

The new Genius Mix feature shown here searches your iTunes library, finds songs that go great together, and creates up to 12 mixes you'll love. These work similarly to radio stations with dynamic-updating capability.

Perhaps the most highly anticipated addition to the new iTunes is the LP feature, which is designed to make purchasing digital music more like buying old vinyl.

The entire experience is meant to be highly visual and the graphics associated with iTunes LP are clearly intensely designed.

You can flip through the various options much like you would a CD cover jacket. There are links for photos, videos and even liner notes, something every die-hard music fan has been missing in digital music for ages.

Apple also gave the iTunes video store some love. Here you can see the updated page for the main TV show store. As with artist and album pages, it's a more seamless look.

The same goes for movies. A quick-link section in the upper right lets you navigate through options with ease.

Another nice touch is that the movies that you rent or purchase through iTunes now behave more like DVDs.

That is, you can access a main menu as you would find on a DVD, with options to select certain chapters and even access special features. No doubt this was a huge win with movie studios.

Here's an example of Wall-E now. It even appears that you may get some special extras that aren't available on DVD, though that remains to be seen.

Finally, Apple improved iTunes' syncing relationship with the iPhone and the iPod. Sync settings are more flexible, and you can now arrange apps within iTunes and have that arrangement synced to the home screen of your iPhone or iPod Touch.
