Not content with just charging AU$900 for a T-shirt, internet retailer Kogan is now charging AU$3000 for an orange bag — without the oranges!
Dubbed the "Portector", the bag features the finest 8000-thread-count Egyptian cotton, and it is the best portal protection available in the world. It appears to work too, check out the video above to see how easily it deflects spam.
Kogan says the government plans to spend AU$128 million on the filter, which will also protect 20,000 people against "spams and scams coming through the portal" — at a cost of AU$6500 per person affected.
Kogan founder Ruslan Kogan said his filter is much more cost effective than the Australian Government's option.
"Our alternative costs just $2999 per customer which is over 50 per cent off the cost of the Australian Government's comparable product.
"The product goes on sale today and includes free shipping across Australia for a very limited time," Kogan said.
How much would you expect to pay? We say AU$2.99 sounds more affordable to us. Our only concern is that at the time of writing the site will let you actually pay for it. Kogan could at least bundle it with a notebook or something.
But will Conroy's filter block out Kogan's net filter too?
There is a delicious irony here. If people aren't savvy enough to know that paying AU$10,000 to Nigerian priests is a scam then they're also likely to believe paying Kogan AU$3000 will protect them from scammers — despite the disclaimer that the product doesn't actually exist.
