More Dell reviews , RRP: AU$3189.00
The Inspiron 6400 is a mid-range notebook with an entry-level price tag. It’ll handle most applications nicely, but it’s a little on the heavy side and isn’t suitable for extensive gaming.
The Dell Latitude E is a glimpse into the future of laptops. With high expandability, configurable and a strong design, it should suit most corporate environments.
Asus' M51Va passes muster as one of the better laptops out there, and the Centrino 2 certification means you'll be up to date with the latest spec. If you're in the market for a mid-weight laptop, make sure to give this one a try.
The Dell Studio 1535 is a good mid-range laptop that fills the gap between premium and mainstream, and offers good quality for the price.
The Eee PC 1000 is a fabulous machine. It precariously straddles the line between netbook and ultraportable, but it's well equipped, well designed and great for those who need a laptop on the move.
BenQ's Joybook R45 is a good laptop at a great price — and will be even better once you get an extra gigabyte of RAM in there.

I have bought this laptop a year ago. 2 GHz Duo, with 2 GB memory. This have been the worst laptop I have ever bought. Problems:
-Some keys broke from the keyboard, had to replace the keyboard
-Mother board heat problems, had to change mother board and fan
- Battery dies after one year and needed to be replaced.
Do not buy this laptop under any circumstances
Pros: It is fast
Cons: Heavy,
very unrealiable

Love mine! I got the 2.16, 1gb ram, 256 vid card and play a lot of Lineage 2 on it. I can use two accounts at the same time, one on low one of high settings and don't lag aside from server lag. Nice looking and works well. Whoever said it isn't good for games must be playing some pretty intense games.
Can't wait to upgrade to 2gb ram.
BTW running windows xp media edition.
Pros: Great preformance
Cons: Not best battery
Fairly heavy!

For my first laptop, im really impressed.
Plays Counter-Strike 1.6 at 1680X1050 no problem and sounds great. I brought it for just work and now i use it for more than that. The weight of the laptop is also fine for myself, and the battery life with the optional 9 Cell battery is amazingly impressive. Even playing a game, it will last for 3.5 to 4 hours! the Dell Tru-Life screen looks amazing and can be seen pretty clearly outside in Sunlight.
Pros: Excellent laptop for mid-range user, Size is good, and the sound and graphics are also excellent. only 2.8kg
Laptop backpack supplied by Dell with Laptop order.
Cons: Right screen hinge snapped but Dell replaced screen and lid for free.

Pretty Awesome; picked it up with a Core 2 duo (@ 2.0GHz), 100Gig HD, ATI X1400, and 512mb ram for just over a grand CAD. I only put 512 ram (2x256) because it is cheaper and easier for me to upgrade it myself (i got 2048 (2x1024) from an onlien retailer for $150 CAD (OCZ brand, not house brand).
Pros: price
ease to upgrade ram (open back panel for access)
desktop replacement
good battery
Cons: a little hefty
I've seen nicer screens
talking to a call center overseas is a pain

I recently purchased this laptop. Must last one was an NEC and before that, a toshiba, so I'm certainly not close minded when it comes to brands and this is my first.
Well... I must say that this is a fine notebook. Mine is the basic 6400 - i only doubled the ram and got a bigger HDD. Other than that, it's just the standard one. So far, I have found it to be magnificent. The action of the keyboard is really good. Everything simply works flawlessly and I'm very happy with it. I work in IT and I know my computers. I thought this one for the price I paid was terrific value for money. IT has international support for the travellers out there and it is very lightweight for what it holds. It's a solid, fast and reliable cross between to nifty portable and a desktop replacement.
People who compain about the weight of this, ought to carry around my previous laptops. Compared to them, this dell is a feather-weight. Comparing it to the weight of a 13" widescreen sony (which all professional reviewers seem to do) is pointless because A) this latop is bigger generally (15.1" screen) and packs a bigger punch.
HIghly recommended. For those thinking of getting the 1501, I would recommend stepping one up and getting this. YOu're spending $1100-$1200 so you may as well spend $1400 and get one of these. I recommend 1 GB of RAM (so upgrade from the standard 512. Sometimes dell run promos with free ram upgrades - see if you can catch one of those).
Equally, I find it bizarre that reviewers take marks off because they don't play extremely resource-heavy games well. IT's a laptop. If you want to play Quake 12 (or whatever they're up to) buy a desktop.
Pros: Light for it's size - really good portability.
Good clear widescreen
Extreme fast
Action of the keyboard is smooth
Wireless seems to work well with XP
Relatively powerful speakers.
Slick design
Good no. of slots without overkill.
The battery on this thing seems to never run out. I think that clark kent is building their batteries (note - the recall was Sony's fault)
HEAT - the bottom of this really doesn't get all that hot, which is a problem that 90% of other laptops suffer from. I comfortably work with it on my lap.
Cons: Comes with vista basic installed. I thought it looked great but I didn't like it that much. It seemed to run well with one gig of ram, but apparently, if i want to upgrade to pro version, i should really have 2 gig. So I installed XP and my god is it fast!!
Dell seems to provide too much in build software - mcafee, google desktop..etc.. Its really annoying to get rid of it all if you don't want any of it.
No inbuilt mic

Just bought this superb laptop; absolutely wonderful and in many ways; hard to believe you can get a laptop that has a duo core processor and 1024 Mb of RAM and its all topped up with DVD RW, 256 ATI Radeon X1400 graphics card. These are just some of the greats of this laptop; one huge bargain is the 120 GB hard drive space. Immense for the price!! Dell have done a great job and i can use it for a huge 4 hrs without recharging.
[All for £499 baby!!]
Pros: Great entertainment laptop with an unbelievable price;
Vista ready;
15.4" monitor;
pretty nice design;
and a lot more!!!!
Cons: the weight is a slight problem and the gaming could be slightly better!
