More Sony reviews , RRP: AU$1999.00

The good:

  • Attractive design
  • Excellent keypad
  • Great display
  • Great specs for the size

The bad:

  • Back of screen could do with some reinforcement
  • Poor positioning of speakers
  • No digital video out
  • Separated card reader
  • Vaio Update needs some streamlining

The bottomline:

The Sony VAIO CR13G is a head turner that most would be proud to tuck under their arms.

I bought mine a few months ago and love it. Only thing is- i can't seem to use the camera with msn messenger. It works with Skype though. Has anyone had any luck at all?

Not quite on the price point for value

Pros: Design and size OK for travel

Cons: Needs more memory as standard, if include in the cost, then it prices itself out of the market. Look what you can get from Dell?

Recently purchased my VGN-CR13G/P. Stylish. Not too heavy. Screen is brilliant. Bluetooth/wireless functions are instant.

Pros: Ability to use USB stick as RAM is fantastic.

Cons: Camera Utility fails to work in Windows Live Messenger.
After downloading Sony VAIO updates, the install wizard never finishes.

hi there :)
i've just purchased the sony vaio vgn-cr13g this week and i must say it looks amazing. it looks so good that it seems fragile, i'm afraid of being too rough in case i damage the beautiful exterior. the screen: amazing, great, clear and extra brownie points for the 100% adjustable colour, gamma, contrast, brightness etc. so you can have the screen just the way you want it BUT it took me ages to change it from the default setting which looked pretty crappy and nothing like other monitors, but i've finally got the colour/gamma/etc. set the way i want it.
the sound from the built in speakers is good, but could be better.
the laptop is incredibly portable and light, i've actually ran around my house with it for the fun of it. it's like everything packed into one!
the keypad and mouse pad are good too. easy to type with, i am typing on it right now..
i also love the webcam BUT that's the problem i've found lately, the webcam will sometimes turn on and sometimes won't and keep shutting down while i'm using it. it got to a point where i was going to bring the laptop to be fixed because after the camera shut off the screen turned off too. I've managed to get everything back on though so maybe it was just overheated.

Pros: great design
light
portable
nice screen

Cons: the stability in the webcam >=[
freezed once and shut off. hopefully the only time.

i agree with that, the sony vaio c series looked really nice. i'm sure this cr series would be great, if not a rather expensive for a notebook.

Just on a side note - Sony offers colored Vaios already for some time and did launch that idea before Dell...
