Lexmark's new multifunction line-up

Lexmark had announced seven new multifunction printers; four for small office and home users, and three for professional use.

While Lexmark printers are known for affordability, the US company is says it is focused on providing a better printing experience for the consumer.

In recent years, All-in-One (AIO) or multifunction units have become increasingly popular as they are relatively compact, which is important if you have space constraints. The general price drop on these units has also boosted sales in this category. Probably with this idea in mind, Lexmark's introduced its new line of AIO units targeted at home users, students and small offices.

The X4650 is part of the Home and Student line of printers that Lexmark released earlier this year. It boasts Wi-Fi connectivity for wireless and network printing and, according to its Web site, the installation process is fuss-free and should be complete within 10 minutes. The X4650 can print, copy, scan and output pictures directly from flash media or PictBridge.

Judging from its specifications, the X2650 looks aimed at students. Stripped of memory card slots and a PictBridge feature, this printer houses the bare essentials of what is required for an AIO -- copy and scan on top of printing, which is what a student may be using the most.

Targeted at professionals and business users, the X6575 features Wi-Fi for cable-free printing, and an auto document feeder that can hold up to 25 pages for multiple-page copying or faxing.

    Maurie 10 - you hit the nail on the head ! I had (Past tense) a Lexmark X3650 and have just returned from throwing it with grea t fury and anger into a skip bin and seeing it fly apart like the peice of disposable rubbish it was - it was only half way through its second set of ink cartridges. More fool me that it was the second Lexmark that I have had, being seduced by the low price. I would not use a Lexmark printer even if the company supplied me a new one on the change of the ink cartriges. Buyers beware- spend a little more money on quality and we' ll all benefit the planet by not having so much landfill created by these disposable and inferior products that these companies produce today.

    Think twice before any Lexmark printer!!!
    My experience is that they use planned obsolescence.
    Although they did replace my 3470 All in One.
    There is a blogg that's called fix your own printer, and before any decision to buy ,should be viewed.
    I had three sent to me by Lexmark before I got one that the scanner would go to it's running position after installing a new ink cartridge.
