A teaser video has popped up on YouTube showing the outline of a new LG smartphone, the Optimus Vu. There are a few hints in the video as to what this new phone may offer, but fan sites claim to know even more.
Korean blog Gpad.tv is reporting that the LG Optimus Vu is geared to take on Samsung's 5-inch Galaxy Note, with a matching 800x1280 screen resolution and LG's IPS screen technology to boot. The phone will apparently be powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, have 1GB of RAM and will offer 8GB of user-accessible storage.
Interestingly, the phone in the teaser video clearly shows a panel of four navigation buttons below the IPS display, suggesting that the phone is designed to run on Android Gingerbread, at least at launch. There's also no information yet as to whether the Vu will come with a stylus, like the Samsung Galaxy Note, or whether LG has designed any unique software to take advantage of the larger screen real estate.
Chances are, if LG ever intends to launch the Optimus Vu, it will announce these intentions at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in a fortnight.
