LG U880
By Renai LeMay on 16 May 2006
Entry-level 3G phone that does all the multimedia basics, but doesn't always do them well. The size and shape of the U880 will go down well, however, and you can get the phone cheaply on a monthly plan.

- Good: Same as person who posted msg at 4.22 on the 6.3.07.
- Bad: Same as above! Found that i have exactly the same problems.
Just a couple of weeks ago my battery has decided to die after taking a phonecall for a minute or sending a text! Now i can only use WHILE being plugged in!
I have had mine for a year and i have to agree with most of the comments posted.

- Good: Music quality/loudness
Compact design
Solid when open
Great menu design
Powerful backlight
Loud when ringing
Reasonably good memory space
Always very clear reception (usually bad reception is due to the other person)
While bad on playback on phone, the photo quality is good when downloaded to computer
Better/easier to use Bluetooth than all of my friend's phones (Motorola V3x only exception) - Bad: BATTERY LIFE (usually less than one day)
Overkill of navigation (shortcut) keys
Scratches easily
Pretty shocking vibrate (hence I never put it on silent)
No flash on camera
Display hard to see in bright sunlight
Blocky picture quality (but the good quality is obvious when on computer)
TERRIBLE COMPUTER PACKAGE - drops out more often than it works
I have had this phone just under a year. While the battery is absolutely CRAP, everything else is really good. Good quality speakers (& my new headphones are fantastic) which can go really loud. Only problem is I can't listen to music as I use the phone for other features. Never had a problem with texting nor does it turn off erratically. I have the silver model and it looks great. I have even thrown this across a hallway after my ex was calling incessantly and I got no problems with it. Although make sure you have a lot of time on your hands for whenever you link it to your computer.

- Good: slim-ish
thats it - Bad: Doesn't have standard 2.0 megapixel camera, cannot send EMS which is annoying, battery life has reduced itself to 1 day even when no phone calls are made (have only have the phone 6 months), send sms 6 times even though you have only sent the msg once, drops off the network constantly even in the city, has to "think" about what you've told it to do which causes massive delays when trying to use it, turns internet on by itself, turns itself off for no reason, and I'm sure there are many more. And I have not dropped this phone or anything. It stays in my bag or on my desk at work.
Compared to other phones on the market, it doesn't look that great, and has no features. Not worth the money.

I have also had problems with the vibration feature and has been constantly accsessing music player, 3 and other webbies!! I dont no how it does it since its alway closed wen in mi pocket. I have just gotten a Sony Ericsson K800 from three and has been outstanding so far. I would definately no recommend the U880, but would certinely reccomend the K800!

- Good: lOVE THE COLOUR - I HAD THE PINK. Unfortunatley this is pretty much the only good thing about this phone. I have seen so many people who have this phone and Im pretty sure the design and colour is the only reason that they got it. Cuz it sure isnt the features ppl found appealing. While it does have a large memory - that isnt helpful when it stuffs up so often.
- Bad: Note the operative word in the pros part - HAD. My phone stuffed up twice and I gave up. All my friends and I bought one when they first came out nearly a year ago. There was six of us in all. All of them have stuffed up and all but two of us have given up on them. Three of us have had them replaced and the rest have had problems with 3 acknowledging that there is a problem. While I was in three a couple of weeks ago two girls came in in a thirty minute time space with seperate cases of the pink phone stuffing up!!! For me the vibration feature stopped, then it kept turning itself off when I was in the middle of a call and then it wouldnt play music. My friends kept turning itself off and on - and it kept randomly vibrating and flashing (it looked like it was having siezures). My other friend couldnt access Planet 3 or make any calls despite having full reception.
Major software problems overrules the cute design!!!!!
I wouldnt recommend this phone to anyone. Dont be fooled by its cute design. I have never had a phone that has stuffed up so much. When it first stuffed up I took it in to 3 and they replaced the software but sure enough just a couple of weeks later it did the same thing again. 3 were great and gave me a replacement (I stupidly thought a replacement would be the answer to my problems). When the new phone stuffed up I took it back into 3 and decided to get a different phone (now a motorola v3x).
The only reason ive given it a 3 rating is because of the pretty colour of the phone (the pink is better than the v3x bright pink). This phone is great in theory. It has a great design, fairly large memory, easy to navigate menus etc however in practice this phone is the WORST phone i have ever had. I always look after my phones. I still have some ancient nokias including the 3310! I never dropped it, kept it in a mobile sock to protect it and it still stuffed up.
