Once it's up and running, McAfee Internet Security 2009 is competitive with Norton on speed, detection, and removal of malicious software.

I EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM- IT IS QUITE IRRITATING
We found that by having Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 installed on our test machine, we could launch McAfee Internet Security 2009 but not see or use any of its features; the Security Center interface was blank. By removing IE 8 Beta 2, we were able to use the product.

    • Good: includes everything you need and more
    • Bad: badly written software, does unnecessary things to interfere/slow the user, hogs system resources with no way to control that except shut things off. Very poor technical support - and when this goes wrong or doesn't install properly you are in a heap of trouble.

Used to be a good company - technology at the top and very user oriented Internet enthusiasts. Now it is badly written software and money grubbing - the software is sold unfinished with poor technical support, little support for older systems/installations, and they have a dictatorial attitude towards customers (both in the software and in getting money).
