Meet In2uit's stylish portable electrostatic speakers

The Filo speaker is a portable battery-powered external speaker that weighs just 700g. Instead of the usual magnets, the Filo uses electrostatic technology to create sound. We've previously seen such technology used in clothes for wearable speakers back at Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

In2uit's approach differs by making its electrostatic speakers stylish and trendy. The unit has an internal battery that will last 10 hours on a full charge. You can play music by streaming it from your smartphone using Bluetooth, or through the 3.5mm audio jack. The Filo will be available in July, in various countries such as the US, UK, Korea and Japan, for the cool price of US$299.

Audio quality seemed fine, though we noted that it just couldn't handle bass well — which is similar to some other electrostatic speakers we've seen so far

We also spotted an iPad case called the Boompack. It features two electrostatic speakers that swivel out from behind the case. One cool thing to note is that the sound is emitted from both the front and the back.

A Bluetooth keyboard can also be magnetically docked to the case. The Boompack alone will retail for US$199; you can add the keyboard accessory for a total of US$250.
