Microsoft unveils Surface 2.0 with pixel-sensing technology

(Credit: Damian Koh/CNET Asia)

The next-generation Surface just got thinner and cooler. Unlike the earlier Surface, which uses a camera under the screen to detect what's going on, the new model utilises pixel-sense technology where every pixel doubles as an infrared camera.

The new Surface, which can be installed either as a tabletop or mounted vertically, measures 10cm thick, runs on Windows 7 and is powered by AMD's multi-core CPU and GPU.

According to Microsoft, Surface 2.0 comes with the biggest piece of Gorilla Glass bonded to an LCD and will arrive this year.
