Microsoft Windows 7 (Home Premium)
By Seth Rosenblatt on 18 August 2009
Windows 7 is more than what Vista should have been — it's where Microsoft needed to go. How much damage Vista did and whether Windows 7 is enough for people to finally abandon Windows XP are questions that nobody has the answers to right now.

- Good: Excellent speed, new polished look, many new features
- Bad: pricing kinda sucks but is expected
I have beta tested Windows 7 since February and it has run great. It isn't just a Vista upgrade its a completely new OS. I was lucky enough to purchase while it was $50 but other than that the price stinks

- Good: Excellent UI, fast and reliable
- Bad: The new taskbar does take getting used to
Couldn't recommend 7 more highly. Benefiting from all the R&D and improvements made to Vista of its life, 7 takes the best of these and improves on the worst to create a functional, easy to use and low resource consuming OS.

- Good: Finally, windows with a useful UI.
- Bad: Still has crappy file system and explorer.
Mac fanboy here.
Really liking the new windows interface. Yeah I argue that a lot has been copied from Mac OS X. But who cares, it made windows better! -

- Good: Applications work here that don't on Vista, Runs faster than Vista
- Bad: Price
Have been using the Release candidate for months now and have loved it. Only thing that is stopping me buying it on release is the price.

- Good: 7 has touch suport for my wonderful modded netbook :)
- Bad: All my Apple friends will bag it out saying it is a clone of Mac OS X
A promising OS with a nice look and awesome wallpapers. Still seems as if we could have just skipped out on windows astala VISTA and gone to windows 7. Er... 6... something.

This just seems like a "fix up," and it is coming wayyy too late. This should have been the version that came out instead of vista. But this shouldnt be what microsoft should be doing. They should throw their ideas out and start over, not base it on a version that has brought nothing. Whoever that thought that basing a software on a failure was a good idea, has another thing coming. This should be a free software update, as it doesnt add many new features, just fixes the old ones.

Vista SP1 was a big improvement. In fact test on my PentiumD show it to boot and run faster than xp. I find it pretty solid. Win7 should be even better but who knows until its really here anyway
