Mio DigiWalker C720t
By Derek Fung on 01 November 2007
Mio's top shelf C-Series GPS, the C720t, has a 4.3-inch screen, Bluetooth hands-free, text-to-speech, and a 2-megapixel still and video camera. That 't' appellation means that you won't need any additional hardware or software once traffic messaging becomes available in Oz.

- Good: Good material quality
- Bad: Low battery, High price, Zero support, Map updates almost impossible
I have one from one year ago. Even I've bought it in 2008, the maps were from 2007. The battery has no 1300 mA as they claim, but it has 720 mA - just open the device and see it! Well-finished, but with some technical design problems. The maps upgrade is a nightmare. You may buy a device with similar characteristics at a half of MIO C720 price, or to buy another device (Asus, TomTom) at a similar price. If you're a real MIO fan, you may choose Moov series, or a PDA model (with a phone and wifi included).

- Good: Brilliant prior to 2008 Map/firmware upgrade
- Bad: totally trashed c720t after 2008 map/firmware upgrade
prior to the 2008 map/firmware update my c720t was a brilliant if initially not terribly intuitive gps. During the 'upgrade' (what a joke) the process crashed/hung whatever and i no longer have a bootable gps. It's totally gone.
I'm going to replace it with a Tom Tom (I need a gps in early March because of a planned long trip) and i will never look at another product made by Mio again. They're support is as bad as the DVD i received 'for free'.

- Good: Split Scree.
An excellent overall unit before the 2008 map upgrade. - Bad: Numerous glitches and faults post update.
Poor support.
Price.
After the 2008 map upgrade, some of the following faults are noted and features/functions missing:
1. No Split Screen (it was the feature that I bought 720t for)
2. No speed limits of streets.
3. No warnings for exceeding map/route based speed limits
4. No audible or otherwise warnings for School Zones
5. The TTG (time to go) is wrong
6. The navigation progress on screen is jittery when moving along
7. Throws an error as to %u201Cunable to recalculate" when you deviate from the prescribed route and stops.
8. TMC does not work.
I was told that it was a map upgrade to 2008 but it has changed the unit to something I did not buy. This unit no longer has the advertised functionality that I based my decision to purchase it. - Good: Split Scree.

- Good: Updates maps from R14 to R15. Other than that, the 2008 update is a DOWNGRADE.
- Bad: Lots of missing features including TMC, which no longer works. In fact the 2008 updater does not even install the TMC files. The section in the manual on TMC is also missing.
Used to be one of the best GPS devices on the market. Then the 2008 update came out which replaces the firmware with a Navman version. Many of the features have disappeared and the 2008 update cannot be reversed. You are stuck with it.

- Good: Excellent Screen!
Blue Tooth!
Excellent Text to Speech!
Traffic Channel Ready!
Camera! - Bad: Price (compared to other Mio's only)!
By far the best GPS I have used!
Only thing is whether its worth the extra few hundred over the C520 which is also a good GPS. - Good: Excellent Screen!
