PDA-phones

If you're a road warrior who sends and receives plenty of email, then these mobiles with full keyboards will make your life much easier.

You want a PDA-phone but you don't fancy writing long SMS messages or dialling (and leaving fingerprints) on the handheld's touch screen. A stylus can be awkward on a bumpy road, but with an on-board QWERTY keyboard it's easy to bang out emails when you're on-the-go. Most give you the option of inputting text by either writing or typing. The best part is these handhelds are only slightly bigger than standard PDAs, so they can slip into your jacket pocket. You can expect to pay a slight premium on some models, but if a keyboard's what you need, these handhelds are definitely worth considering.

I just got a Dopod 838Pro from www.pressdigital.com.au ($675 - bargain) and it's awesome. New Windows Mobile 6 rom sings along and my Telstra SIM plugged in and runs fine! Just gotta work out how to get Foxtel working on it.. Data and voice run perfectly though. I tried out the square screen Smartphone units and they didn't support any of the software I have for my old PDA.. So the Dopod was the obvious choice - and half the price of the newer Tytn II model!!

I think as a PDA blackberry is best for professionals. Its QWERTY keypad makes life a lot more easier! and sending receiving e ,mails on it is amazingly easy.

Enterprises looking to deploy a rugged, versatile mobile device will be impressed by the Motorola MC75's range of features. However, you pay a premium for smartphone functionality in a hardened form; this phone is not only tough, it is massive to the point of being unwieldy.

      HTC S740

HTC took the Touch Diamond's glossy black frame, stripped away the touchscreen, added a QWERTY keyboard and called it the S740. This latest Windows Mobile smartphone should deliver the same business messaging punch as the popular Diamond.

HP's latest iPAQ, the 612c Business Navigator, is a solid offering with lots of features and good battery life. It's a bland-looking and giant handset, but good performance and crisp touchscreen somewhat make up for the poor keypad.

The Bold is what BlackBerry fans have been waiting for. It's feature-rich and sharply designed, let down in small measure by some cumbersome software.
