Ive had this phone for 7 months now, originally hated it, being used to nokias and symbian OS. Now couldn't live with out it. Completely customizable and love the amount of apps and add-ons available fot it. nice solid feel. quality built. Little heavy and on the larger side of things but hey, its practically a mini laptop.
I used this phone for about 7 months. It is so painfully slow to open programs, to ring people and to send messages. Nothing can be done fast on this phone. Windows mobile is so CRAP! I no longer use this phone and it sits in my bottom draw. I wish I had never bought it. Unless you love using a stylist (i think thats what its called [the little pencil thing for the touch screen]) you cannot type messages or ring people easily. The touch screen is fine however the software buttons etc for dialing or the start menu etc are too small to use your fingers. The keyboard is ok, however my "L" button didn't work straight out of the box. I was just too lazy to get it fixed.
I strongly recommend against getting this phone. It is so slow and painful and I wish I just had a basic phone with basic phone functions instead.
Pros: Internet, GPS
Cons: So painfully slow to do anything.
Touch screen is no good for finger usage. Windows mobile is painful.
Easily broken.
Very Large and heavy
Phone worked well for a while after buying it from USA on the net.
Started to develop problems with executing programs and freezing (probably related). Soft and hard boots made little difference. The real problem is the warranty service (none) Fonebiz the service agents claim that they cannot honour the warranty because it was not purchase in AUS and I can get no response out of head office.
The warranty I have clearly states that it will be honoured in any country where the phone is sold and I have a list of toll free numbers to contact throughout the world supplied by HTC in the US. Fonebiz then said they would repair it for money and subsequently said they cant do that either and sent the phone back.
Pros: Great concept and useful tools
Cons: Build quality/software performance is very suspect
I bought a Kaiser / TyTnII in sept 07 in the UK. In oct 07 I moved to Australia. The TyTn was very useful with built in GPS.
In April 08 it stopped working and i sent it to the Australian Authorised repairers - Phonebiz in Victoria. They said the mainboard had failed and the cost to repair would be at least AU$600 (about 60% of the cost of the phone new.) They told me that as i had moved countries -the warranty was no longer valid (why, exactly?).
I rang HTC who confirmed that they would not fix it under warranty despite it being less than 6 months old. They did tell me however that the price to repair quoted by Phonebiz was twice what it should be.
So - for those of you reading this to find out whether you want to buy one - yes its a great phone, but the honesty of the warranty support is questionable to say the least. My first and last HTC phone is now a high tech housebrick and my new phone is a Nokia.
Sourgrapes? Possibly - i certainly have a bad taste in my mouth after dealing with HTC.

Pros: Great as long as it doesnt break.
Cons: Warranty not worth the paper its written on, questionable honesty of warranty support, manufacturer that deserts you when their product fails.
Well had the handset for 4 months now and still rate this as the best PDA I have used - Use this for work -e-mails on MS exchange server using Telstra, works fine absolutely no problems.
Not sure what the chaps problem was below but I have not had any problems with this phone at all - also use it as a modem with both Optus and Telstra sim's - must note that the telstra sim won't work on 3G so speeds are slower on this network (something to do with telstra's 850 frequency) - so I run this on GSM mode and it goes fine on telstra.
Battery is not the best but I do get 1 - 2 days out of a charge, however the best bet is to have a car charger as if you want to use the GPS this is the only option. I run TT6 over copilot 7 using the latest maps which has the new eastlink in Melbourne on it.
Use bluetooth stereo heatset (Dell BH200) and this unit runs fine for streaming good quality music (has A2DHP) - also connects to the bluetooth hands free in the car without any issues
Pros: Better than all the Blackberrys I have seen
Cons: Battery life could be better
Not as good as the new HTC Touch Pro
Rubbish! Bluetooth is not worth enabling, phone switches off randomly when using e-mail or internet. Menus disappear, never to be seen again. Utter CRAP.
Pros: None
Cons: Battery lasts 30 hours MAX, even on standby.
Bluetooth is pathetic, as is the audio quality.
Alarm function requires the phone to be left ON, and with the battery life being what it is, your phone will have powere off long before you expect to hear the alarm!
After reading the reviews, I wanted to get a few of the phones for work. Then when I check on the repairer for HTC, Phonetec, I got a pretty bad overall image. There are plenty of negative comments about Phonetec on the net. I think I might get i-Mate or Nokia instead.
This is a brilliant phone - firstly I've hacked it a bit and am running Dittes 6.1 Version of WM6. This is a great OS responsive and pretty fast - I have a Jas-jam before this and hated WM5 - which as an OS is 100% rubbish. The update onto WM6 is impressive BT works fine, no need to soft reset time and time again, also have an 8gig micro SD card with maps of the world (Ausi, Guam, HK, Singapore, UK & IE roads and USA) running Tom Tom 6.03 which I found better than Copilot 7, which came bundled with the device.
The bottom line is that the HTC is a great device run with MS exchange server for work e-mails, the fact you can hack the OS with new versions is great all seem to run fine.
Have bluetooth headset which runs fine with the HTC sound quality is great better than the Jasjam which skipped when playing back the music - that and an 8gig card allows room for plenty of music.
Pros: To many to be specific, GPS fix is fast bluetooth works well and no soft resets.
Cons: Poor battery life - you will need an in car charger to use GPS it simply kills the battery - to be fair so does my wife's Navman S90i
