More RIM reviews , RRP: AU$799.00

The good:

  • Constant access to e-mail wherever you are
  • Vivid 320x240 LCD display
  • Superb battery life
  • High quality QWERTY keyboard
  • LED alerts users to unread e-mail
  • Lighter than previous BlackBerry models

The bad:

  • Expensive
  • Dearth of third-party applications
  • Lacks consumer-friendly features such as an integrated camera and audio player
  • Some may find its wide chassis dorky for use as a phone
  • Unlike the 7130e, it can’t act as an EV-DO modem
  • Uncomfortable for lefties

The bottomline:

The BlackBerry 8700 series is ideal for mobile professionals who require always-on e-mail access, but its cost and functionality won't be attractive to most non-business users.

      Motorola MC75

Enterprises looking to deploy a rugged, versatile mobile device will be impressed by the Motorola MC75's range of features. However, you pay a premium for smartphone functionality in a hardened form; this phone is not only tough, it is massive to the point of being unwieldy.

    • HTC S740

      HTC S740

HTC took the Touch Diamond's glossy black frame, stripped away the touchscreen, added a QWERTY keyboard and called it the S740. This latest Windows Mobile smartphone should deliver the same business messaging punch as the popular Diamond.

      HP iPAQ 612c Business Navigator

HP's latest iPAQ, the 612c Business Navigator, is a solid offering with lots of features and good battery life. It's a bland-looking and giant handset, but good performance and crisp touchscreen somewhat make up for the poor keypad.

    • Asus P750

      Asus P750

The Asus P750 may be chunky, but it packs in a huge array of features. Combined with an equally impressive software bundle, the result is an excellent multifunction handheld that should appeal to a wide range of mobile professionals.

      BlackBerry Bold 9000

The Bold is what BlackBerry fans have been waiting for. It's feature-rich and sharply designed, let down in small measure by some cumbersome software.
