CNET.com.au's Jeremy Roche leads you through February's most popular mobiles.

While O2's Xda mini retains the crown as our most popular phone, the Xda IIs PDA-phone slipped back to fourth position and the Xphone II just missed out on a spot, coming in at 11th.

Securing 2nd place is Motorola's V3, the sexy phone included in the lavish gift bag of Academy Awards presenters and winners -- athough the version for the Oscars apparently was black, not silver.

Sony Ericsson handsets fared well, even though the company hasn't released any handsets in Australia since last October. However, launching in Q2, 2005 will be the J300i, K750i, K300i, and the eagerly anticipated Z800i 3G phone.

PalmOne's updated Treo smart phone, the 650, also makes a splash into the chart at number five.

This PDA/Phone is absolutely sensational! The ability to access email wirelessly, write quick SMS messages using normal handwriting, and get data updates such as airline schedules, weather and exchange rates via GPRS is worth every cent.

Motorola V3 Razr

The graceful Motorola V3 is the thinnest clamshell to date and a stunningly crafted mobile for style-conscious individuals and professionals alike.

Bluetooth works great as does the USB for sync. Voice clarity is the best I've ever heard on a phone of this size, even on the headset. Price is good since it's come down to around $750 AUD. I'd certainly recommend it.

I have had my sony k700i now for 2 weeks, it is brilliant. As an ex Nokia owner I was worried whether or not it would be hard to navigate etc..esp as a text fan! It is so easy to use I am amazed.

O2 Xda IIs

O2's latest PDA/phone-hybrid, the Xda IIs, adds a slide keyboard, Wi-Fi, a quad-band antenna and improved battery life to its predecessor.

O2 Xda IIs is thumbs up for me. The bluetooth synchronisation between laptop and Xda device is flawless. The ease of use and mobility is rewarding. The phone clarity is superb and the ability to drill from contacts to phone at the press of a fingertip/stylus is just spot on.

PalmOne Treo 650

Though it has its shortcomings, the PalmOne Treo 650 offers solid performance and adds some key features, such as a crisp display and Bluetooth connectivity.

All the right additions but nothing added just for added feature list checking. Great minor improvements to keyboard layout, built-in apps and integration that most reviewers won't pick up add a lot more value
