Sony Ericsson has put an Eye Toy-like motion sensor and a handful of compatible games in the F305, turning the humble mobile phone into a pocket-sized Nintendo Wii.
A few months earlier, we stumbled across mock-up images of what fans thought a Sony Ericsson PSP mobile phone could look like. The F305 is by no means a high-tech PSP replacement — it's likely to be priced as a budget prepaid phone — but the inclusion of motion sensing technology is a funky concept for a handheld device.
A spokesman for Sony Ericsson explained that motion is registered using the phone's 2-megapixel camera and is compatible with three of the 11 preloaded games on the F305. Additional motion sensitive games are available to download with a total of 10 by mobile gaming developer Gamesloft ready at launch, including Bass fishing, Jockey, and a ten-pin bowling game — similar to one of the more popular games on Nintendo's Wii Sports.
For games not compatible with the motion sensor, the F305 also sports dedicated gaming keys including two buttons above the screen with 'X' and 'O' icons similar to those found on Playstation game console control pads.
There's been no official word yet on pricing for the F305, but we do expect to see it in Australia in time for Christmas.
