Mobiles to watch out for

Just when it was almost fashionable to wear a ridiculous Bluetooth headpiece and talk loudly to yourself in shopping centres, now we'll have people talking into their wrists. Or will we?
Adelaide-based NV Mobile today launched a range of mobile phone watches complete with a sampling of the bells and whistles we see in the mobile phones in market already, including Bluetooth, touchscreens, and audio and video players. NV Mobile's CEO Anthony Cook describes the mobile phone watch as the "evolution of communications".
"In 10 to 20 years [watch phones] will take over the large screen phones," said Cook.
The range includes 10 models starting with the entry-level Motch all the way through to the top-of-the-line NV Sapphire, with sports watches and watches for tradesmen in between. Prices range from the basic model at AU$399 through to AU$999. The phones are currently available through the NV Mobile website.
NV Mobile will also release waterproof models and dual-SIM models in the coming weeks. The company also sells a range of smartphones in traditional form factors, which include 5-megapixel cameras and analog TV tuners.
At the launch, Cook whet our appetite with cryptic hints of the near future, saying "We're putting things into phones that don't exist yet ... things that will amaze you."
Things into phones that don't exist? As soon as we heard this our minds wandered across our future technology wish list: teleportation, time travel, invisibility cloak, one of those miniature pizzas from Back to the Future 2...
For us, the future can't come soon enough — we like to be amazed. Though, we're not sure if the amazing future of communications is watch phones.
What do you think? Are we destined to make our important business calls whispering into our wrists like Dick Tracy? Let us know your thoughts in the forums.

BUYER BEWARE! Please be aware that I have ordered and paid for a product from NV Phones. The product arrived after a wait of several weeks, and after it arrived it did not work. I contacted the Department of Consumer Protection, who have been attempting to resolve the issue for me, however the CEO Anthony Cooke stopped responding to their emails and phone calls and has “gone underground”.
As the company only lists a post office box and a mobile phone number as contact details, it is extremely difficult to contact this man if he does not want to be contacted. I have sent the watch back twice now, at my own expense, and as the Department of Consumer Protection can no longer contact him, my only other possible course of action is to attempt to settle the matter in a Magistrate’s Court. However, this too may be unsuccessful if the man (who is obviously an extremely unscrupulous person) cannot be contacted by court staff in South Australia.
I cannot stress enough – DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON!

My NV phone was worth the wait. Whilst I did wait 10 days, I can honestly say that I am pleased with battery life and the user friendly operation. The handsfree speaker is adjustable and quite loud. The real size of the watch phone is no more than my current G Shock. Good one.

BUYER BEWARE! Please be aware that I have ordered and paid for one of these products, and have not recieved it for over 20 days now. I have emailed an enquiry last week and recieved no reply. I have called the mobile phone number on the website and got a messagebank OGM with no name. No one has responded! Unfortunately I now have to pursue my problem through the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection. Will advise on the outcome.

are you kidding me?? this is as dumb as a shoe phone.. Firstly phones nowadays cant even have a decent battery life to support all the applications within it. Secondly even if this watch is jam packed with applications (which am sure will eat throught the battery), how can one look at the tiny screen?? this will definitely not be a benchmark for future trends and this will inly be for the teeny-bopper market if it even actually attracts them. Lastly I would hate to be seen talking to my wrist..this is why we have bluetooth headsets...hello???
I am not curious about this and is something I will never be getting..( Remember when your mom used to tell you "never say never"??? well am saying NEVER).
How awful would it be to see all the "Suits" walking around talking to their wrists lolz... -

I ordered the M800 myself and everyone knows that they were a failer, full of faults, and not operative on the 3G / Next G networks not to mention, they had limited features. After ordering one these nv watch phones on line last week, my Sports Pro came today and i am pleased to say, it is smaller/lighter than my watch, has great reception not to mention a great speaker phone. Full Marks for the guys that came up with this.

I called NV Phones after hours on 0448 000 200, and they were a pleasure to do business with, giving me the information I required for making my selection. Good on you, looking forward in getting my watch phone.

Ok, I know these sort of products rely heavily on the "gimmick" factor and are in reality usually very inconvenient but to be honest, I still want one!
Back in the day, when I was about 12, I had a 'state-of-the-art' camera watch. It was black and white and extremely bulky but I still loved it. So I guess I'm still a sucker for these kind of things.
I think I would really like the convenience of not having to actually carry around a phone (I have a hiptop now and it's a bit bulky to fit in pockets sometimes).
Guess I've got something to think about here ;)
