Motorola Q 9h

By Luke Anderson on 11 September 2007

If you're looking for an attractive 3.5G PDA-phone with push email, Windows Mobile 6 and a QWERTY keyboard, the Motorola Q 9h is worthy of consideration, so long as you don't need a touch-screen or Wi-Fi.

    • Good: Very thin, fast operating system, Windows mobile works a treat, great feature of automatically turning on to silent mode when during a scheduled meeting and many many more.
    • Bad: Foxtel can't be maximised to full screen, can't charge and have a headset in at same time, but these are all minor points on a really great all-in-one phone & PDA.

Overall an awesome phone on Telstra's Next G network. Lightning fast email and web browsing, access to Foxtel which is novel, but not sure I'll use it all that much, windows mobile is also very good (in my view anyway) and keyboard is very easy to use. Well worth a look if you are wanting a phone & PDA all in one. After 2 previous attempts with Sony PDA/phones, finally a device that can do both properly!

    • Good: Windows Mobile 6
      HSPA
      Keyboard
      Screen
      Speakers
    • Bad: Battery Life
Phone doesn't go on when you switch it on
      Micro USB connector

Well, its an excellent phone, can't beat the keyboard probably the best on the market, i just need to find out how to cut and paste, i gave the wife a Nokia E61i great phone only problem with that phone is the keyboards to wide and you can just hold it in one hand, not good for me when i'm driving, so the motorola is just perfect, My only problem is the battery life is pittiful, especially if you have bluetooth enabled, doesn't last the day and because of that I don't use it as a media player though it is very good when you pair it up with a Motorola S705 soundpilot. that said, i don't understand why the review couldn't charge the phone via the USB, u do need to install the drivers, that the only way i can charge the phone while I'm on the road. through my laptop since motorola have decided to use a Micro USB can't find a car charge for it yet, let alone a spare battery.
Wifi - don't need it, touch screen hate them, camera on the front no thanks.
the only other grip i have is it beeps you while you have one call on hold, while taking another call which is very annoying.
When you power on the phone the phone stays off but the bluetooth stays on, unless you look at the screen and remember about. i gone half the day with the phone off then i wonder why is no one calling me, where are my emails and you look at the phone and yeap the phone is off.
So if the could make the battery last as long as a Nokia E61i and warn you that the phone is off it would be just perfect.
