Motorola RAZR V3x

By Joanne Simpson, CNET.com.au on 13 March 2006

A sleek and robust design wrapped around some interesting features, the Motorola RAZR V3x outclasses its 2G predecessor in both style and performance but is not as razor sharp as the hype might suggest.

When I first got it it was ok, then i moved 15ks out of main town, then it started to go downhill, I changed servers not so long after I shifted hoping Id get a better SIGNAL it constantly says CALL FAIL now what tha? I guess I cant blame the handset for that issue must be Server!

I found the camera quite impressive I use it more than my ordinary digital camera.
The "say a command' feature absolutely useless, i have a special command for that -dont use it!

Battery life is no good for me I have to recharge daily could have something to do with it always trying to attempt to find a signal there fore flattening the battery, I have had two batteries for it now.
When I charge it nightly on my beside it is slightly annoying it is like a ufo is landing or a nightclub light is constantly flashing, but i guess if i went to sleep it wouldnt bother me. It is rather bulky in size especially when it has a hard plastic cover protecting it. The glass on the outer has broken like six times has bout 6 fractures.. but it is still in tact, I have droppped it about 5 times probly due to the size of it. The music player is good in it but again the battery life aint so good so it has limited use. Also to finish off my babbling, the Motorola v3x PC program is unusable it alters my phone and adds everyones email address's wich I dont really need on my phone, can be handy but not for me, I have found that if you dont Upgrade the program the original program will work as its meant to. Have had bulk probs with the motorola program itself.

    • Good: Good camera and torch light nice n bright, bright colourful screen!
    • Bad: Very poor battery life, too bulky in size,

I LOVE this phone! 've had it for two years, and yes, I admit it I had trouble with the battery life. I went and exchanged it twice, and have finally found a phone that I have been very happy with. I love that I can change the buttons around to suit MY likes and not have something that is pre-set with no choice about which button does what.

Admitedly the battery life is still not great, but I recharge it every night and have not had any problems.

It took a little while for the pre-emptive text to start to use words that I use regularly, and when it gives me words that it doesn't know, I will type them in manually.

Camera can take some really good photos sometimes and other times they are hazy and out of focus - but as someone else said, - its a phone not a camera.

An extremely hard case - it took constant dropping for two years (on average of once a week onto a terracotta floor) for it to give up the ghost on the front screen, and now I have to press a button to get the inside screen to open up. It doesn't bother me.

    • Good: very easy to use.
    • Bad: It takes up a lot of battery life if you want to use the music option - 1 hour's use made it very hot and almost run out of battery

Great mobile. I like it because of its stylishness color and design. In this article i read that its camera result is not good in sunlight so take snaps in night.

    • Good: Good camera.
      Stylish body and sleek design.
    • Bad: Nothing.

I also have "called failed" issues with my V3x, contacted service provider who told me that "it was a very common fault with that model, just pop the battery out, put it back in and all will be good"! Yes that worked, but i have to do it for EVERY call. I look forward to putting it in an industrial blender at the end of the contract.

    • Good: no one will steal it :-(
    • Bad: no one will steal it :-)

People who are complaining about not receiving messages or not being able to call even with full bars. That's not the phone's problem. Blame your network.

On the 5th of January 2007 I purchased a Motorola V3X from Telstra. (I had just made the worst mistake of my life!!)
The salesman in the store put my phone together for me, and once he switched it on it came up with an error message stating contact operator, so he gave me a new one.
I took it home and began to explore some of its features when all of a sudden it just died, and wouldn't turn back on again, so I went back to the store and wasted about half an hour of my time, and eventually received a new one. This supposedly new phone lasted me 12 months. It became really hot whilst I was talking and it began make to illuminate blue, reminding me to charge the battery, which had been charged around half an hour ago, when all of a sudden it just made a loud clicking noise and stopped.
This phone and its software is absolutely crap. I have lost all my confidence in Motorola, and would not recommend this phone to my worst enemy!

    • Good: Has an OK camera!!
    • Bad: Illuminates a blue light when charging (extremely bright and irritable, especially if you charge your phone on your bedside table), has a tendency to randomly restart, appalling battery life, is extremely fat and heavy, voice command is hopeless, very complicated Bluetooth technology and has a tendency of becoming very hot when used in excess of more than ten minutes.

I don't know why lots of people are giving this a bad review! This is the best mobile phone i've ever had! It has many features, and a strong outter cover. I've had this phone for 3 years and not a scratch on it. I think people are not taking care of this phone aye! I read some comments and i was litterally open mouthed with shock! I do not think it has a fiddly menu at all its like the easiest ever! My mum who doesnt know how to work a phone, knows how to work mine on the first time! Seriously I love my phone it's the best ever, even after 3 years peoples phones havent caught up with the V3X's technology yet. Unless paying a huge bundle of money.

    • Good: Big & Bright Screen, External & Internal Camera, Big Keys, Good Quality Outter Cover, Lots OF Memory, Supports SD Cards, Stylish,
    • Bad: Can't View Image Messages, Not A Image Editing Program.

My wife and i have the V3x and are both having the same faults with them.
I asked many people and most of them seem to be having the same problems not worth the money.

    • Good: Looks good and nice setup but thats it.
    • Bad: When you have full singnal you still get called failed. Battery life is realy poor and it does not even last the life of the contract.
