Design
"Trendy" isn't a word we often use to describe a pair of headphones, but we're willing to make an exception when it comes to the Skullcandy Ti. Fashioned in white, with grey accents and a pointy chrome stud above each ear cup, the Ti's playful design is sure to appeal to the younger generation. The more conservative members of the CNET.com.au team described them as being tacky and too loud, but we'll let you decide that for yourself.

Travellers will appreciate the Ti's durability. The padding for both the ear cups and the head strap is leather, and spare ear padding is provided just in case the original ones get dirty or lost. A carry bag is also included -- a little over-the-top, we think.

The ear cups should cover most of, but not your entire ear -- noise cancelling is virtually non-existent. The cups swivel 90-degrees, which we guess might come in handy if you're a DJ or have oddly-positioned ears.

Features
For those in tune with audio tech, the cans use 41mm titanium drivers, with a 100-18,000Hz frequency range and an impedance of 32/50 ohms. If that's gibberish to you, don't fret, as at the end of the day all that's really important is real-world performance, which we'll get into shortly.

The headphones connect to your output device (i.e. PC, MP3 player, PDA, etc) using a standard 3.5mm jack. A 6.3mm adaptor is included should you wish to hook them up to a home theatre stereo system.

The cable length of 3m is more than adequate for PC use, but it may be tediously long if you're plugging into an MP3 player. An in-line volume control is present for on-the-fly adjustments.

Performance
For us, comfort is the most important consideration when buying a set of headphones, particularly if you plan on keeping them on for longer than two hours at a time. Some sets apply too much pressure to your ears, which soon becomes sore, and others are neck-achingly heavy.

We were able to use the Ti for virtually entire days without experiencing discomfort, and appreciate the liberal amounts of padding Skullcandy provides. For those that plan on using the set in a workplace, sound leakage is minimal even at higher volume levels, but the Ti doesn't do a very good job of cancelling outside noise at all.

Sound quality is pleasing, but despite the classy design, the Ti isn't a top-shelf pair of headphones. Mid-to-high-end sound reproduction is clean and clear, but poor bass response flattens the audio of some tracks, and will also lessen immersion in movie viewing. Great bass response is almost always lacking in the headphone world, unless you've got AU$900 to drop on a top-of-the-line pair such as Sennheiser's HD 650.

High volume levels can be reached with minimal sound degradation, and we didn't notice any audible hissing during quiet music passages.

If the design doesn't clash with your personality and bass response isn't at the top of your shopping checklist, the Skullcandy Ti headphones make a compelling purchase.

apology for second post

Pros: n/a

Cons: to all of those looking for bass I heavily suggest the skullcrushers. there is no need to deter from skullcandy as they DO have headphones to suit your needs

great headphones, quality is great and what I've come to expect of skullcandy. love the warranty

Pros: super comfortable, uber stylish, bass is excellent with my onkyo reciever/equalizer. highs and mids are perfect, 5th pair of skullcandy headphones and looking to buy more!!!

Cons: need to have good amp/equalizer for bass, lightweight which could mean trouble with heavy use.

Monster bass is indeed false advertising from the Skullcandy company, but NO bass is also a flat out lie, or you have a really crappy mp3 player. I bought them for 69€ and i have to say that somewhere around 49€ would have been a better suitable price. Audio quality is pretty good in the highs. Very crispy and nice to listen to. The bass, is indeed a bit on the low side, but after fiddling around with the equalizer on my N95, it was much better. Monster bass, no. Enough bass for a nice listen, yes.

Pros: - Good highs and mids
- Crispy clear sound
- Comfortable to wear (been wearing them for hours now and no discomfort whatsoever)
- The looks

Cons: - Bass could be better (but is NOT non-existant)
- To get that proper bass you need an MP3 player with some sort of equalizer.
- Design not suited for everyone
- Very little low on a PC

These are the worst headphones ever!!!!! no volume. A complete and utter waste off money. Monster bass my arse! I have a £2 pair of headphones in my desk which came free with something and they are god like compared with the ti.

Pros: nice to look at

Cons: everything is wrong that you would want to be good with headphones.

These headphones by themself are at best okay, I don't know how cnet could say they could wear these for days, they are really really uncomfortable as some others have mentioned, I have to take them off after about 1 hour. The style doesn't bother me, the quality is pretty average, no it's quite awful in comparison the a cheaper set of sennheiser phones, you could pick up some HD 202's for less with superior comfort, price and quality. I was really dissapointed with these, which is a shame, I thought paying more than I did for my original sennheisers would have meant better sound, comfort, build quality, ect, but it meant nothing, I just ordered a pair of HD555 sennheisers, I should never have left them

Pros: + probably the best warranty I have seen

Cons: - crap sound
- awful bass, non-existant
- uncomfortable to unbearable at times
- generally a **** product

I listen to music ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Classical and so far have been really impressed with the sound produced (from an iPod). The bass is acceptable, clarity good and noise reduction so so. These are much better than ear buds.

Pros: comfortable and fairly light
