At CES 2006, we saw a demo of Windows Media Player 11, which boasts a cleaner and more logical design as well as snappier performance. Check out screenshots from the latest build of WMP 11 for Vista. Microsoft plans to release a Windows XP version as well, probably sooner than the Vista version.

A new look and feel
Microsoft has taken the success of iTunes to heart with a simpler, cleaner interface. Gone is much of version 10's clutter. Each media type now has its own customisable view (see pull-down on upper-left corner). Everything from the icons to the Areo effect of the desktop showing through the interface gives WMP 11 a decidedly modern look and feel. Also notice the media mall, currently showing Musicmatch.
