A new YouTube video provides a brilliant mash-up between Battlestar Galactica ... and Simon & Garfunkel.

Everyone knows Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence"; my parents were fans, so I grew up on the schmaltzy two-part harmonies, and we'd be willing to bet that a few of you are nodding along.

Even if you're not a fan of Battlestar Galactica — the sci-fi TV series that catalogues the tail end of a long war between real humans and artificial ones — this mash-up, posted by YouTube user Saul Tigh (a pseudonym, obviously), is fantastic. We love the minimal lyrical alteration, and whoever is singing it has the vocals spot-on.

It's the only activity so far for Mr Tigh, but we sincerely hope to see more.

Didn't "Futurama" do a spoof of this some time ago?
