Navman MY55T
By Derek Fung on 29 June 2009
Just like the 4.7-inch MY50T, but with added goodness in the form of Bluetooth hands-free, more memory, an FM transmitter, 3D landmarks and a higher capacity battery.

- Good: Good text-to-speech, feature packed.
- Bad: No media player, despite having an FM transmitter
Some people seem confused, but the Navman site itself confirms there is no media player on this one, only on the MY500XT. Which makes the inclusion of the FM transmitter rather pointless to me!
So only 3D landmarks and bluetooth handsfree separate this one from the MY50T. -

- Good: pretty much everything, jam packed with features
- Bad: school zones a little out of wack, especially on weekends! navigating menu a little slow
Overall love it! Especially free maps for three years at the moment!

no map support listed on the navteq site for this unit.......I hope it's not going to be another LG fiasco when one comes to upgrade maps.........?

Ghost and Basil,
I just bought a my55t and returned it within 24hrs because it didnt have the ability to play music. I was told that it could and a few websites say it can but I can assure you that it doesn't. The MY500XT does and it works fine. I upgraded for this feature alone. -

- Good: Attractive Unit
- Bad: Maps
This unit is really let down by the poor quality NAVTEQ map. Noticed several street name errors and roundabouts that have existed for years not even shown on the maps. Navman should has stuck with the Sensis maps, at least they were more accurate to a degree. For the amount of money I had to fork out for this unit only to get substandard mapping is unaccepatble. As for ease of use, nothing beats a Tom Tom.

Only the MY500XT has the media player. It's stupid, but there ya go.

- Good: Great value, best list of features in this price bracket, speed limit/safety camera info is surprisingly comprehensive and up to date in metro areas, intuitive address/POI search. Traffic info works well in metro Melbourne.
- Bad: Touchscreen could be slightly more responsive. No auto on/off when car is started/stopped.
After testing a few in rental cars and in the shops, this is my first GPS unit and I'm impressed so far. Some slight issues with touchscreen responsiveness which I'm hoping can be addressed in a future firmware update. Very happy with the purchase.

- Good: Screen, Sensititivity, Bluetooth,
- Bad: Suna hasn't worked yet? Innaccurate speed warnings
FANTASTIC little unit. Absolutely brilliant. Love it. I was warned off navman but when I won this one the excitement has been building for weeks. So glad I upgraded from the MY50T, too! FANTASTIC! stoked :)
