A lot of cameras get called "unique", but the 12-megapixel S1000pj aptly lives up to this tag.
What?
This inconspicuous looking camera seems to be like a standard compact from the front, but looking at it more closely reveals something intriguing — this extra hole, if you will, on the front fascia. No, it's not another lens (we're thinking stereoscope or 3D cameras like the recently announced Fujifilm FinePix 3D), but a projector.
It's a nostalgic throw-back to the days when your parents used to show you their childhood memories on slide projectors, and the S1000pj isn't restricted to just photos, it can display videos and slideshows as well. Now all you'll need is a torch and a blanket for those ghost bedtime stories.
There's a stand to hold the camera provided in the package so you don't have to worry about holding still for an extended period of time. The S1000pj is also a fully featured camera in its own right, with a 5x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens. Unfortunately, it's not the most stylish compact we've seen, but for the sheer novelty of a mini-projector we'll excuse it somewhat in the design stakes.
When?
Available in September, the S1000pj will retail for AU$699. We'll have our full review soon.
