Nikon has issued a recall notice for the EN-EL15 battery, which powers the D800, D800E, D7000 and Nikon 1 V1.

The defect may cause the battery to overheat, as well as the casing to warp. According to Nikon, there have been no reports of this happening, but the fault has been found in the manufacturing process.

The recall only affects batteries purchased or supplied after 29 February 2012 for the Nikon D7000 and V1, as the D800 had not shipped by this date.

To check to see whether your battery is affected, visit this page, and then contact Nikon's Australian service centre directly.
