Nintendo DSi sells 100,000 units in 14 weeks in Oz
By James Kozanecki on 22 July 2009
Nintendo Australia today announced that its Nintendo DSi has sold over 100,000 units in Australia during its first 14 weeks of hitting store shelves. The data was collected by industry trackers GfK Australia.
By comparison to Nintendo's other consoles, the Nintendo DS Lite moved 100,000 units in 18 weeks, while it took the Wii 28 weeks to break the 100,000 barrier.
Nintendo did not, however, comment on sales of the bite-sized games it's selling through the DSiWare Store.
The Nintendo DSi launched here on April 2, with the Nintendo Experience Store opening at midnight to let eager customers pick up their new console as soon as the clock struck midnight. Some of the new features the DSi has over its Lite cousin include a bigger screen, camera, SD slot for storage and access to the DSiWare store.
