Nokia 2310

The 2310 may be low cost, but its features are too limited for our liking.

The comment in the report that "as the handset is dual band only, you won't be able to use it if you venture abroad." is wrong. I bought mine in England May 2008 for 10 pounds ($21 OZ at the time) and it worked in Ireland, Singapore and Australia. It has worked with 3 different carriers SIM cards.
I asked for a phone with out bells and whistles and was given the Nokia 2310. It does all I want it to and I am happy with it -

Nofrills voice and textphone.
You get the phone, 3.5mm plug earphones (no controls), Wall-wart charger, and sim card.
This is an excellent 1st phone for the technophobe, that works right out of the box. I had this phone for 15 months, when it was stolen. This phone got coverage on the Vodephone network in regional WA, when a Nokia N95 didn't have coverage on the Telstra network. Also both phones got a accidental soaking in milk coffee. The N95 died at the scene.
Bottom line;
I'm still concidering weather to get the same phone again, it's good value. While a camera would be usefull, in hindsight, the feachers that would have been most valued, is a light, and data backup to computer (lost valuable data when phone lost).- Good: Durable with indurance (baterly life >7 days, if few calls and no games played).
Speaker phone is LOUD!
Supports Caller ID.
- Bad: Has none of the following; Camera, Music/Media play, Blue tooth, WiFi, External airial, Docking port, Torch/Light, Computer interfacing/PDA functions. No Bells or Whistles.
- Good: Durable with indurance (baterly life >7 days, if few calls and no games played).

Have had this phone for over a year, dropped numerous times - still going strong. Would like to update but can't find anything with a decent keypad size on a cap of $29, staying with it it's a good strong phone. Good loud handsfree also
- Good: Strong. good speakerphone
- Bad: No camera or bluetooth, but hey it does as it should.

I've had this phone for over a year now, and it's only recently starting to screw up (not making calls properly and switching off at inconvnient times). It's excellent for people who don't need cameras, video, and all those random extras in a phone. It does what a mobile phone should do, and does it well.
- Good: Easy to use
Speakerphone is nice and loud
Has enough memory (for me anyway)
It takes a lot to kill this phone, I've dropped it countless times and barely a scratch! - Bad: It doesn't look that great
Mine has had a bit of trouble receving messages late
- Good: Easy to use
