Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

By Frank Lewis on 11 December 2009

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is significantly cheaper than most other touchscreen handsets on the market. While it's nowhere near as slick as the iPhone or HTC Hero, we still reckon it offers a good user experience for the price.

    • Good: Sterespeakers, price, 3.5 MP camera, simple to use
    • Bad: Call quality (but I think it's only in my handset)

For the price there is no way you can compare it to the iPhone and the HTC Touch range. The extras such as multitap etc. are the perks to paying hundreds more. The lack of apps is only due to the OS being new. Overall the best phone for the price range.

bought this few days ago. at 199 outright you can't argue. i searched high and low and there is nothing much at this price range. i find the touch acceptable and it is easy to type with the stylus as well. i have had no dramas and i use it as a work phone. the battery life thus far has been good. so i can only say good things for this cheap and functional phone

Have recently purchased the Nokia 5530. Picked it up from Allphones for $199 unlocked. Yes it is not an Iphone but am really happy with it for a significantly less price. Easy to use, camera quite good for general photos. Music playback is more than reasonable.

Your best options in this price range are this and the lg cookie. All touch screens at this price range (excluding maybe Samsung Corby (Boost mobile)) Are using resistive technology which can be used with a stylus and is generally less sensitive like multitouch or capacitive which cannot use stylus' and is more sensitive. LG Cookie is superior because it utilises kinetic technology in every aspect of the phone allowing scrolling like on the iPhone for example. Thanx hope it helps.
