Nokia 6500 Slide

The Nokia 6500 Slide is an attractive 3G phone, but despite features like video-out it's like dressing your daggy uncle in a nice suit.

    • Good: looks nice, I liked the heaviness of it.
    • Bad: Won't charge when plugged into the wall, turns off and can't turn back on.

    I have been paying for my 6500 slide for nearly 2 months, and I am yet to really use it! The first one was replaced after the 1st week due to the unit turning itself off whenever it felt like it. The 2nd phone that I received has not worked since two days after I received it from Optus. I still have it - they refuse to echange it for another phone - they will only exchange 'like for like'. I told them that I don't 'like' this phone anymore! Am still waiting for some sort of replacement. I have been a Nokia user for 15 years and this is the first one that I have had that is totally crap!!

    • Good: great features. radio, stopwatch, timer, comes with three great games and the speakers are very loud(great for music)
    • Bad: didnt transfer my contacts

    i have had this phone now for months and not one thing has gone wrong. it doest freez, doesnt loose data. i especially like the new sleak design and the many great features. i recomend it

    the worst phone ever. very very frustrating, doesnt follow commands, freezes ALL the time, turns on and off, resets settings leaving you with the daggy classic nokia tune in public GRR. i know for a fact im not the only one and for those who say its great then okay! dont come complaining when yours efss up :) im on a contract too which is worse. it seems to work better if i take out my memory card... does anyone know why? and whats the point of having one if u cant use it. i feel like a caveman, you call this technology OKKKKKAY!

    At first I thought this was a great phone. Unfortunately now, my opinion has changed. It was fine for a while, then I started having software problems, screen would go white in the middle of writing a message then it would go back to the main display screen and shut down everything i was doing, and it would do it like 5 times in a row. Would not display my contacts, would not ring when people were calling, would not unlock, and worst of all, kept telling me the memory card had been removed when it hadn't, resulting in ALL of my ringtone and display settings going back to default. After all of this I dropped the phone when I fell down the stairs, and broke the screen, and Nokia refused to fix it under warranty as it was "my fault". I was fine with paying for the problems that resulted from it being dropped, but as for the software problems? how could I know it froze and wouldnt show my contacts if the screen was broken after I dropped it?? After I paid for it to be fixed, ALL of it, I received the phone and the front slider part had been replaced, but all the software issues were still there. Really disappointed in Nokia for this one.

    • Good: it was great..when it worked.
      clear screen, great camera, everything that i stated in my previous post.
    • Bad: can anyone let me know how i can try and get nokia to repair my phone under waranty??

    i recently posted on this site how good this phone is, but now i am disgusted at what a peice of CRAP it is. after 6 weeks, it has already been shipped off to get fixed... i was in a meeting and had the phone sitting on the table in its phone holder (as you do) and when i went to turn it on again, the whole screen was rainbow and looked like it had been shattered! but i didnt even drop it or anything, Nokia said that the screen had IMPLODED as a result of being and therefore it is not covered by warany.!! can you believe that! there is not 1 single scratch anywhere on the phone, let alone the screen. i cant afford $200 to get it repaired, but i am on a plan for another 21 months (with virgin) i just cant believe that nokia could be so dodgy with there warantys, even when there is obviously no sign that it has been dropped. SHAME ON YOU NOKIA

    • Good: Good sleek looks, stell body and the Carl Zeiss camera lens.
    • Bad: One of the most unreliable and crappiest slide phone of nokia series. Highly prone and sensitive to moisture resulting in void warranty because liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

    I used to be a big-time nokia fan until I got Nokia 6500 slide. First few months it was good and then it showed its true modern "unreliable" nokia colours. It started freezing and switching on and off at times when you need your handset to be fully functional. The contacts could not be transferred from sim to phone memory and vice versa. Took it to the nokia people who had an awesome warranty excuse saying 2 plain words which summed the quality of NOKIA 6500 slide - "liquid damage". I am devastated and frustrated now. No more modern nokias for me now!

    First of all I don't give much credit to some of these reviews where idiots can't spell or even string a sentence together. The 6500 is a great phone. It's extra weight comes from the stainless steel cover which gives the phone a solid feel in the hand. The slide mechanism is nice and tight and the keys are large enough for guy's thumbs. It's got a good range of supplied ring tones, alerts and a few games. The battery life is very good and the camera is great, there's a good range of features on there too. It comes supplied with a 256 mb sd card, well that's with 3 anyway and is upgradeable to 4 gigs.There's a couple of extra bits of software on the cd, ulead video editor and photoshop aswell as the normal pc suite for uploading pics etc. Can't really fault it :)

    WOW I HAVE THIS PHONE IT IS ONE OF THE BEST PHONES I WILL EVER HAVE THE CAMERA IS REALLY GOOD

    • Bad: found that it was easy for the phone to unlock according to what phone pouch used

    nice size and appearance, like all phones you need to treat them with care
    large font size is good black is a good option than the silver an improvement on my 6288 model

    great photo quality and music is awesome
