Nokia will launch a successor to its hugely popular E71 in the third quarter of 2009, with a small range of improvements and name change to reflect this. The new phone is the E72.
These enhancements include a 5-megapixel camera — up from 3.2 megapixels — and the addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack. These changes should bridge the gap for those who considered the E71 a business-only handset.
Nokia has also replaced the central navigation key with a new optical track-pad, similar to that found on Samsung's Omnia. While the Finnish manufacturer is hoping this trackpad makes navigation faster for users, it is promising a faster user experience all-round, including faster internet browsing.
In line with other E-Series handset releases this year, the E72 will also come with Nokia Messaging pre-installed, which includes HTML-style message browsing, and the latest version of Nokia Maps with a 10-day turn-by-turn navigation trial.
