Nokia N81
By Joseph Hanlon on 18 December 2007
Similar to a Volvo, the N81 is a strong performer in a a boxy chassis. Eight gigabytes of storage is great, and the music player is on par with its competitors. The real question is: are you a Volvo driver?

- Good: Excellent Podcasting D/L functions
Excellent Wi-Fi hardware
A top notch MP3 player
N-Gage
- Bad: Coulda had a 5.0MP cam...but watcha gonna do huh!
Navi-wheel could have been better in the initial f/w release.
I've owned my N81 for several months now and it is my mp3 player of choice hands down. I am addicted to podcasting and having the ability to d/l my podcasts directly to my phone rather than locking myself away in my home office for a couple of hours daily, much to the chagrin of my wife, has made life blissful for me - hell - it has probably saved my marriage!!
I hated the turn wheel initially but with the most recent firmware update from Nokia on board I have noted some improvement.
I surf the web alot on this phone and enjoy it alot (again another marriage saver).
The new N-Gage platform is cool and I get a kick out of playing the odd round of Hooked On and Space Impact. With the abundance of titles coming on stream through '08/'09 my N81 is going to get a supreme workout.
The cam...well I had the N73 before this phone...enough said really...though when I'm out and about with the family and I've left the Cybershot at home the N81's 2MP cam actually takes a decent happy snap that does print out nicely onto a 5x4 hard copy. I mean afterall it is a phone.
Calling, messaging, emailing - all pretty high standard as per Nokia. The appearence/bulkiness of the phone - I actually like it alot. About time we moved away from those slim assed clams and flips. One could argue that we've finally returned to "a man's phone".
I'm loving my N81 and I've no regrets whatsoever from opting for this handset as a replacement for my N73 which failed me not long after I was given it by my provider. - Good: Excellent Podcasting D/L functions

- Good: Almost everything
- Bad: Camera, its quite poor considering the price of the phone. If your after a camera phone dont get the n81, but if your after a phone that works and will not let you down and is going to be long lasting, this is the phone for you.
I got this phone about 2weeks ago, its the best. The quality of the sound in the music is excellent.

- Bad: Keys are too cramped.
Terrible camera for the level of phone.
The navigations keys are too cramped especially with the music keys. Often I would hit other keys when i try to skip to the next song. But otherwise a great phone.
- Bad: Keys are too cramped.
