Nokia's five new candy bars
By Reuben Lee on 21 June 2006

The Finnish mobile maker has announced five new handsets at this year's Nokia Connection event held at Suntec City in Singapore.
The annual Nokia Connection event, which has traditionally been a prelude to CommunicAsia, has always seen the Finnish phone giant unveil its latest range of handsets . This year proved no different with a total of five new candy-bar phones announced, among them a 3G-enabled midrange model, two entry-level GSM handsets and two CDMA offerings.
To our surprise, this year's product announcements appear less impressive than previous Nokia Connection shows -- see our coverage of Nokia Connection 2005 here -- where the company would unveil its top-of-the-line handsets, sporting the latest cutting-edge technologies. The five phones announced at this launch are targeted chiefly at the entry- to mid-level crowd.
Fans wondering if Nokia is losing it edge can breathe easy. Over the past year, the phone manufacturer has rolled out more than 25 new mobiles ranging from fashion and enterprise to sports and multimedia. Many of the mobile offerings, which were recently launched or soon to be released, were also showcased at the event.

Nokia are losing it. The mind set that Nokia are the phones to buy will slip when people realise that Nokia have stopped innovating. Nothing new has come from Nokia in over 12 months in my oppinion which in technology is almost an eternity. Its a shame but the next phone i buy wont be from a the once steadfast brand with all the answers.

Again, Nokia seems quite steadfast with their bric-a-bloc designs. Perhaps they are only targeted at business minded customers. But even so, they must be quite a large customer base of dull minded ppl for Nokia to continue with its unimaginative designs
