Norton Internet Security 2007
By Robert Vamosi on 23 January 2007
Norton Internet Security 2007 makes significant gains over last year, including cutting-edge rootkit and behavioral monitoring features found nowhere else, but the overall package could be serious overkill for the average desktop owner.

I had to reinstall 3 times with tech support help to work. Full scan is too slow compared with 2006 - 14 hours plus on drive with 39G of programs and files. Considering alternative
- Good: Does good job.
- Bad: very slow on full system scan

i cant see that many problams with it, i did have a lot of trouble installing it when i first got it, but i reformated my pc as it had a few problems, installed it and it seems to work fine.
i wouldnt know if it was slowing my pc down that much as i never have it off- Good: advanced dectectors
- Bad: lack of user choice as to what should be done with security problems

Bought 3-user CD, failed at first install and won't even allow me to activate it (blank page appears with three buttons which do not work either). Looks like early alfa version to me, not something anyone would release to unsuspecting customers. Uninstall followed shortly after. NEVER AGAIN NORTON ANTIVIRUS!
- Bad: Does not let you install it
Does not let you activate it (paid version!)
Buggy as hell
Gives you trouble with uninstall process
- Bad: Does not let you install it

I purchased a Norton 360 upgrade with extended download service and I ahve not been able to download it. I was given an address to download, and its an arab address. I have nto been able to get chat support, and keep getting error report 1316. I cannot get any help with this and am feeling frustrated.

I'm no expert but I'm surprised at the many negative posts. I upgraded from the 2005 to 2007. I didn't find any slowing of PC. The anti-phishing is very useful. It caught more intruders than the 2005 version. Am a bit suspicious at the number of negative posts - maybe I'm wrong-some may have an agenda.
- Good: Quicker and more effective than previous versions. Doesn't slow PC. Anti-phishing gives a secure feeling.
- Bad: A bit expensive

This nightmare came free with my asus motherboard. It worked for a week, then it blocked my internet connection. Costumer support told me to uninstall...the problem is that NIS7 never uninstalls completely, and there is no registry cleaner or whatever that will help. Asus should be ashamed of the crap they give for free...and symantech should just close the company and start as a very good virus making ****.
- Good: The only pros. is that it makes you want to shut down your pc and have more family time.
- Bad: summarizing: it shortens your life (like cigarettes), it should be prohibited by law.

If I could give it a 0 I would. CNET must have installed a different version than I got. A 7.8 rating? What a joke. I've had all the problems everyone else has had. I'm so happy I bought 2 3-license CDs and now get to uninstall it from 6 computers!
- Good: None
- Bad: Read all the reviewers comments. Don't even think about buying this POS software.

My PC has never been so slow - every webpage has a 3 second lag as I wait for it to load....NAV 05 was much better. Slow on the startup as well.
- Good: I don't see any at the moment.
- Bad: Can't figure out what fraud detection is doing but I think its the culprit!

I had a lot of trouble loading the NIS 2007 program when I purchased my package. I had to totally unload the old Norton package and realod the new one. When I finally decided to get some tech support I found eveyone I communicated with to be very helpful. Suresh identified my problem quickly and connected me to Rajesh who was able to walk me through what to do and gave me links to click on. I even got a couple of followup calls from Ramesh checking to see that everything was going well and my system was running smoothly. The tech support was great. It is nice to know there is some help out there.
- Good: Good tech support and even followup.
- Bad: The program does SLOW down the computer. I have not had it long enough to know if it slows it down more than last years version did. From the comments others have made it does not sound good.
