Norton Internet Security 2007
By Robert Vamosi on 23 January 2007
Norton Internet Security 2007 makes significant gains over last year, including cutting-edge rootkit and behavioral monitoring features found nowhere else, but the overall package could be serious overkill for the average desktop owner.

- Good: - I see no advantages
- Bad: Where to start?
- System Killer!
- This behaves like a virus itself!
Do NOT install!
:(
Never in my active computer life have I ever encountered a program such as this. It's got the be the worst ever.
I wanted to rate this as a 1, but that was not allowed?
It solves absolutely nothing, you're better off with a virus or two on your system and a bunch of spyware and being a node in a spamming-ring and STILL your system would run faster and smoother then when it does with this installed. -

- Good: It does provide protection & it can be installed on 3 computers.
- Bad: Too many to enumerate.
I don't recall ever being so frustrated with another software product. NIS is slower than slow and does not allow the user to control or tweak its functions to any meaningful degree. Evidently, Symantec thinks that anyone who would buy this product does not have the capacity to decide when & how to use it.
The interface is not intuitive, information is scarce, & the e-mail support has been useless in my experience. How many times do I have to explain that I already tried their solution & it doesn't work? Or how many times should I have to spend a couple of hours uninstalling & reinstalling?
If automatic update is turned off (to avoid the system coming to its knees a few times a day whenever it wants), it runs anyway (bringing the system to its knees); however, it does not update. Isn't that clever? -

- Good: I just don't know.
- Bad: slows me down. They can't fix it. They give me the wrong addresses to try to fix it. I don't need this headace!
I think Norton is a crock. My auto protect is not on and Norton cannot fix it or does not know how to fix it. I have paid for this and have almost a year to go. It appears that it is a waste of my money.

- Good: Integrated suite of PC tools
- Bad: Uses up system resources, slows down system and it's impossible to disable some features
I too have become a victim of FWCFG.EXE taking 99% on a clean install of Windows XP. I can't believe Symantec realized such a buggy product, their quality control is not what it used to be.

- Good: None - slower than if was infected.
- Bad: Time consuming nightmare
Bugs,non-stop hassle, intrusive, attention seeking- slows PC down instead of enhancing performance

Auto protect feature will get on to ur nerves sometimes , this feature displays annoying pop ups that your computer is seccure , its has resolved a problem nd that is all good but it showz the message so many times nd interrupting any work u do which is so annoying , i tried to resolve this many times but could not do it so i uninstalled norton, its get you so screwed up u'll uninstall it..100% recommended not to buy it plz dont waste ur hard workin money

- Good: NIS HAS and I repeat HAS been good to me. It is not ALL cons. I have it on 4 computers and have never seen a serious problem.
- Bad: memory hog at times but clears out after boot-otherwise not many
NIS won't install unless the system is clean to start with; FWcfg.exe is a pain if the system is already damaged by multi malicious software infections. I like to use SuperAntiSpyware to clean out the crap first (or alternately you could go to the symantec site and pay to have your sys cleaned) on a loaded up system; either that or use sys restore or repair Windows.
